Wrong offset rim what to do
 

Alright so I decied to try and figure out what offset my wheels are?

What I've come up with is this

rim width = 7" or 177.8mm
backspace= 3.15" or 80.01mm

Offset = Backspace - (Rim Width ÷ 2)

so 80.01 - (177.8 ÷ 2) = -8.9

So what do to. I have a gsl-se swapped front and rear. So the stock offset is 40mm (like the series 4, 4 lug base model) Is it worth it to try and get the rim to work or am I better off selling them and buying some new ones?

I take it you're having problems with the tires rubbing/catching the fender lips. You have several options if you choose to keep the wheels. You can raise the body for more fender clearance, roll the fender lips, but I don't think that will give you enough room looking at your pic. Last option would be to cut out the fender lips and install fender flairs. That would work and be a nice visual addition to the body kit you have now.

Yeah they were rubbing like crazy. The previous owner cut the front springs.... :Wconfused . I just installed new racing beat springs and tokico blue struts in all 4 corners. And the tire catching the top of the fender isn't that big of an issue any more. But I hear a little bit of rubbing when turning hard. I took of the front tires to see if they were rubbing the springs but didn't notice any significant wear.

you can roll the fenders, get some camber plates run 2.5 camber in the front

With that backspacing, you shouldn't have any issues with rubbing on the inside of the tire, only the outer side. If the tires aren't catching much, try rolling the fenders. Not sold on the increased camber idea. While the car will corner better, you'll also suffer from increased tire wear on the inner half of the tread.

depending on what size tire your running you can also run a smaller tire (example...instead of a 215/60/15 run a 205/60/15) will allow you to clear the lip. also as others have said use the baseball bat trick and roll your fenders.

I have 195/60/14 right now. I was trying to find something smaller in 60/14 but the choices were very limited.

Not really sure at all about your math... but if you really like those rims (I do) it's take them to a machine shop and have them mill some of the mounting surface off. But only if it has a enough meat back there to do it.

go flares. It'll make that car look aggressive.

correct me if im wrong but isnt it like....width/profile/rim size...so instead of going with a skinnier tire shouldent he should go with a lower profile? like example....instead of a 215/60/15 have like a 215/55/15 or 215/50/15

a thinner profile won't change the 'shoulder' of the tire impacting the lip - it'll just throw his speedo and gear ratios all to hell.

well technically changing just teh width, and not the series would also do the same thing as its a percentage. to stay the same WITH down sizing width you would have to do something like this from 215/60/15 to a 205/65/15...that would keep a closer ratio to normal.

Use the link I posted. Not only does it show the circumference of the choosen tire, it also lists the revs/mile and the the percentage of speedometer error.

Would the VW Cabriolet flares work in my situation? Side note I'm taking off the body kit and making it a stock body again. I don't want some huge fender flares on their or a widebody kit. I really like the idea of the 240z fender that people are talking about. But I will wait to see some finished projects. I'm also going to have the car repainted/rust removal as well. I'm thinking 3rd gen white, with removed side modelings. Their is a very good body shop in town that I trust. And want to get everything done at once.

I really do like the rims as well but I don't think their is much to be milled off them.
