wiring help (yes, another)
 

is there anyway to rewire the headlights and motors without rippin the whole car apart,,, my dash lights dont work the headlights will go up but not down, only the brights go on and only if i pull on the control stick, my parking lights go on when there supposed to but go off when i turn the swith all the way to the "on" position....wtf.........firs gens are my favorite but even though my second gen floods im letting it creap into being my daily driver......some one help

damn that sucks well if youre having more problems then above it would be best to replace all of it!

check the fuse under the dash board labeled "Illum"

when that fuse goes, all the symptoms you've described happen; headlights go up but not down, dash lights don't work, etc. My car has an ongoing problem with this, so I'm thinking of re-wiring all the crap as well... it blows this fuse like every week...

Look at your fusable links as well.... one of them controls the lights. It can be bad, but still provide some current. This makes the lights work, but not consistantly, or fully. Next I'd suspect the column switch. On both the 7's I own, I've had problems with the brights, like you are describing. I've heard that contact cleaner can clean the switch contacts, but I haven't tried it. Unfortuatly, it might need replacing .....

Other than that, get yourself a multimeter if you don't have one, and slowly check for continuity in those trouble areas of your harness. You'll find the problem. On older cars like ours, its very possible that the wire has just gotten brittle and broke somewhere.

yeah my fusable links were good, cause i snached them off a workin gsl......is there a difference in just the fusable links?
