Yep it'll fit. Cheaper to rebuild it yourself but you should be able to get one for around $45 US.

Are you sure it will fit? I tried to put a 79 or 80 starter onto an 85, but the gear in the starter was a different diameter and number of teeth between the two.

The 79/80 was smaller dia. with less teeth. Does it work anyway? I didn't check to see if the distance between teeth was the same.

Thanks,
Neil

I'm sure it will fit.

I have both a 79, 84 and an 85, and I was comparing them in the computer at work (Checker Auto)

For the SA model, it says you can also use the part number from the 81 +.
