Ignition problems can also cause that.

clogged cat will hold your performance down ALLOT! Mine did not cause it to only get to a certain RPM, but seemed like it took forever to get up to max RPM. Also ran REALLY quiet. No backfire from it either.

be careful!

My cat was clogged all to shit, but I still drove it because it didnt seem to harm performance too much.

I was driving about 90mph from Fargo to Minneapolis, and then KABOOM!

My exhaust literally exploded all over the highway. What was left looks like the rifles in the old Bugs Bunny cartoons when someone would stick their finger in the barrel before the shooter pulled the trigger.

At that speed, my car bounced a few inches in the air, and I almost wrecked with the semi I was passing.

Unclog it, or get a new exhaust. I dont have emissions testing in Northern AZ, so I just run straight pipes.

The performance gains without the clogged exhaust were IMMEDIATELY noticeable, but ridiculously loud.
