to widebody with these rims or flip them?

Ok so I recently acquired some rims for a damned good price. They are OZ rims and the size is 18x8 et40. They look massive on the car when I put them next to it.

Being that they are so big, I was wondering if I should keep them and do a widebody setup, or flip them and find something that will fit a bit better. The vehicle in question is an 85 gs with a stock suspension at the moment. Plans for the car include coilovers ( curently saving for them), fc 5 lug brakes, and rb adjustable control arms (saving for these too)

I can post pics here when I get home, or you can search on fb for north valley 7's and see the pics there.

Ok so here is a pic of the front. Car is on the ground with a shot suspension at the moment so it sits a bit low, but either way that fender has got to get modified if I use these

I say u flip them. Widebodies need lips.

KansasCityREPU 11-22-13 09:59 PM

Those rims wont even fit under the fender. You you sure the offset even works?

rotornoob 11-22-13 10:33 PM

I would need a spacer to make them fit, so I was kinda leaning towards flipping them, but there is another option...

I COULD put them on my sc300 and use the lexus rims on the fb, but the offset on them is +50 so I think I would still have to run a spacer with those. I believe they are 16x6.5.

Just as a general ballpark, how much do you think something like this would be worth? They have a little rash on the lips, and definately need to have the lip repainted, but they seem to be in decent shape...tires are toast..

If you're going widebody you need at the very least 10" rims!! ;P

My first though was et40 = WAAAAYYYY too much inside the fender, none outside. That's a super positive offset and you'd want the opposite offset with a dishy look to get a decent looking widebody.

Yeah, I've decided to put them on the sc300 for now. Ilk either sell tree hem or most likely just keep them on that car and buy new ones for the fb.

Good move, 18" are way to big in my opinion on a first gen. 17" even look out of place..

The car had 17's when I bought it but they were super heavy so I ditched them, but suprisingly they didn't look too bad. These look fucking sweet on my sc300 though.

I agree. Those wheels are way to massive for the car.

Better to stick with X wheels or some special edition LE wheels.

Put those on your SUV

rotornoob 12-01-13 05:11 PM

Unfortunately the + wheels are not going to work for much longer as im about to start a big brake upgrade. I need to go up to at least a 15" wheel. I would use the wheels from the lexus but I think the offset is going to be too much even with spacers.

I agree, anything bigger than 15" or 16" makes an FB look like a HOTWHEELS toy.

For wide body, 16 inch front, 17's back, with massive lips.

Agreed. So hard to find wide tires for anything smaller than a 17. Took me a while to find 295s for my 15s, but the 50 tire wall is a bit big for me. Still love it, I like a nice tire wall, just a bit much for me.
