Widebody removal and re-use?
I'm curious... Is there a way to remove an old wide body kit, like the IMSA, so that it can be reused on another car?
Thanks. |
i don't see why you couldn't. it would just take work for your body guy to install it onto the next car.

Probably have to grind down the filler/putty at the seams and then unfasten it from the original
body work. Not for the faint of heart I bet. Its certainly not bolt on by any means. |
Why not take the entire rear quarters off at the factory sheetmetal with the fiberglass intact?
You get to choose your "parting lines", its actually a boon. |
i got a professional paint/fibre glass guy who just happens to be a friend and works on a friends local championship rally car to come and look at removing the rear quarters of my mariah kit when i was considering removing it, and he advised that one would have to make moulds of parts of the kit before removal to be able to have the proper fit after. he said he could have removed mine and converted it to a rivet on style rear kit. but friends or not it would be $$$$. he has built similar for rally cars locally. so i know the quality. just my 2ç

Thanks. There is a local guy with a rusted out hulk that has the kit attached but it seems like more work and expense than I'm willing to take on.
