didnt see a wide-body thread so figured i would start one.
here's pics of myne i just got home today.
currently has dual weber carbs.
4 point roll cage.
some epsilon wheels plus stocks plus another set that look like Z wheels.
has an extra set of fenders plus the bumpers and stuff.
pretty excited for this.
not bad for under 500 i think, and engine starts+idles.

dantheman 07-29-11 09:15 AM

Looks a lot like the lake city manifold.

i do not.
really dont know much about carbs but going to learn.

the first thing i will do when i get it running decent will probably take it to work and do some dyno tuning.

I think those might be dellorto carbs, but I don't know for sure. Does not look like the Mikuni I had on my 82, thats for sure. Not seen too many sidedraft Weber's though so that could be it. I've seen pics of setups like this a few times, quite rare actually. I don't think anyone makes a manifold to do this kind of setup anymore.

1badFB 07-30-11 04:39 PM

Weber dcoe's, no question.

I think TWM used to make those manifolds?

they are webers as it says on it clear to see but i havent actually check the intake to see if it is a brand or maybe custom made.
it looks great either way so im happy.

anyone got some widebody fb/sa action for inspiration?
kind of surprised there wasnt a thread.

here is what i am going for except not black or decal, yet.

hope myne could look so good someday.

Cool! I've seen a similar intake on youtube in a red wide body with a 13b. From the vids it looks like it went like a banshee.

Good luck

Heres a few pictures of mine, still needs some finishing touches which unfortunately hasn't been at the top of my priority list lately.

320 rwhp at low boost (10 psi)
TII swap, t04s turbo, many many mods

Zanity 08-01-11 09:31 PM

thats awesome.
how did you get the 5 lugs?
aftermarket or stock swap?

on another note changed the oil today and started it.
before it owuld idle for about 10 seconds.
now its hitting over a minute.
needs new gas i think.

Dan_s_young 08-01-11 09:34 PM

For the 5 lug swap in the front I have respeeds TII big brake kit with TII hubs. As for the rear, I am running a ford 8.8" rear end with custom length axles, wilwood brakes and lots of other goodies.

Your project looks like a good one, it's a long expensive journey though. The most expensive issue is rims and tires, and also having the power to back up the looks of the car.

well the rims i have are proper just rears were bent so they stuck stockers on front and put fronts on the back.
i actually have gotten in contact with the original owner/builder and he gave me some lovely pics from it in its glory days.

I no longer have the shell I was going to put this on..and now have a RX4 im going to restore.
I don't really want to sell it but it might be some time before I would get around to using it.

It's the same one Dan has......and Dan your car is very nice, well done.

Anyone looking for a widebody kit?...Priced to sell.

$1300

Zanity 08-03-11 10:46 PM

just had more contact with the owner and this is what he has filled me in on.

"I put a large street port in there. It's about as big as you can go before you step into a bridge port. I have all the templates unfortunately, I can't get to them from here. I used a standard large (Racing Beat) 'street port' exhaust port profile also. The motor, with the Webers dyno'd at 224hp but I can't remember what the torque was. Depending on how loud I wanted the supertrapps to be, it would pull cleanly to 8500-9000, or less if I packed the supertrapps with 0# steel wool. It had a new oil pump with the bypass spacer to bump up oil pressure (100psi cold, 80-90 normal at WOT), and I ran Mobil 1 in it after break-in."

"Forgot to mention it does have a new complete LSD differential ordered from the Mazda dealer for an '86. That's why the rear brakes are bigger and the axles were taken to a machine shop to have them drill for the smaller '79 bolt pattern (110mm?)"

this car just becomes more and more awesome.
