Why wouldn't a +28 offset 6.5" wheel work on an SE?
I'm having a debate with someone on whether a +28 offset 6.5" wheel work on an SE. I know most people use +40 with 7" wheels with no problem.... I'm looking at a 6.5" wheel with +28mm offset. That's only a 1/2 inch less offset than a 40mm ... which I think isn't really that big a deal, since the wheel is 1/2 narrower (1/4 on each side of the mounting hub).
Any thoughts? Who is right on this one? thx! |
It sounds like you answered your own question. If the wheel is 1/4 narrower on each side and the offset difference pushes the wheel in an extra half inch then it is 1/4 inch further in then before. this may not be an issue in the back but the front may rub on the larger diameter springs.

w/ the exception of bore size, that combo should work no problems. i've ran 15x8 0 offset on stock bodied SE w/ no problems before. just roll your fenders

Someone posted this last week and I thought I'd pass it along...

Hey, here's another site that has cool wheels. www.takumiproject.com. My friend told me about it. God bless

Ya, keep your fenders stock. Keep the whole car stock. I just read that its a silver garage queen with 30k miles. Keep it stock, it looks the best stock anyway. Good luck on the wheels that you pick. Show me when you get them, take care
I still wouldn't do it unless your really good at it . I've never done it and you don't won't to screw up your paint. It's your descion though. Be careful if you do it though. |
Properly rolled fenders do not show on the outside. It's merely a process of turning up the inner flange for tire clearance. Biggest danger is cracking the paint, think heat gun, proper tool and patience.
