Why After-Market Fuel Pump?

Hey, I was wondering...If you modified a carb. and needed a more high pressure fuel pump, couldnt you just use from a bone yard one out of an SE? According to Maxda, the pressure that it puts out is like 49.8 - 71.1 PSI...as far as i know, this would be plenty of pressure, right?

You'd spend more money on a special fuel pressure regulator than you would for a Holley/Carter pump (that COMES WITH a regulator).

Anyway, the problem isn't pressure - it's volume. Need more volume.

exactly, with a N/A 12A and a modded carb (i.e. Yaw) you need a HIGH volume, LOW pressure pump. My fuel pressure is set at 2.5 lbs. That's why I run a Carter pump. Lots of volume, not lots of pressure.

Ok, I see, kinda like Amperage and Voltage, lots of amperage, not necessarily lots of volts . Thanks I get it now.
