Who has an auctioneers liscense?

I am looking into an auctioneers liscence. So I was wondering if anyone does this or has done this or knows anything about this topic? There is a website that allows you to buy a membership for 35 bucks but how often do you get to go and are the cars crap or what. Just curious.

The cars wouldn't be crap since that's where repos go. And banks don't usually give loans for crap.

2 of my ex-boss' cars went there. :)

That's the opening bid. I would assume, at least.

What it actually goes for is probably further away from that price than you think.

In NY you don't need a license if your buying from an impound yard, county auction or GSA ( Goverment Sales Auction), However if you plan to by Bank owned cars such a Ford credit or GMAC vehicle at a private auction like (WWW.ADESAIMPACT.COM) you do need to be licensed by the state. It will run you a about $350.00 to $500.00 depending on which license your appling for. You can also find info about this at your local DMV.

PATZ would you happen to know of any impound yards, county auctions or GSA's around Long island/NYC?

Do a GOOGLE on GSA auctions, here is one example www.tristateaa.com is a good place to snoop. If you live near NYC go on the cities web site, they should list where and when. Good Luck!

PATZ I am thinking that if you pay that much then you must be getting something good out of it. I mean dealerships do this all the time and make a killing off of it to suckers that just dont know. I dont know about you guys but I dont want to be a sucker. If I can pay a couple hundred dollars and be guarenteed that if I go to enough auctions then I would be able to drive home a new car at 90% less than I should of paid That is well worth it to me.

I think that the 90% less figure is hoplessly optimistic. You'll buy at about the same price that you would off an individual in the newspaper.

But dealers that have to buy a lot of cars at once to replenish their stock can make money by not waisting time with each individual seller. Dealers also also try to buy cars that fit their own profile, so you won't see a Chrysler dealership selling 15 year old Cadillacs.

You should also factor in the value of your time, your gas, wear and tear on your car and the licence.

Most big dealers around here buy the lease turn-ins or rental cars that are only 1yr old or less and that have very low miles. It's usually the small corner guys who will screw you. For example: today we have a 1996 Olds Ciera with 52000 miles on it she's a beauty for only $3200.00( little old lady drove it), but what they don't tell you is that car was bought at auction, damaged or wrecked and only paid $400.00. Seeing that the car is more than 8yrs old it won't have a branded title. Also some of the auctions that are selling FMC or GMAC cars you'll have to be a registered NEW car dealer. All that glitters is not gold!
