where should i jack up the front of the car
 

I am putting in the front today and i figured it would be easiest to get the whole front up off the ground. Where should i raise it up and where should the jack stands go. thanks, sorry if i sound kinda stupid......God Bless!!

Jack under crossmember between wheels. jackstands under tensions rodd brackets up front.

I use a hydraulic scissor jack to raise the car. It is very similar to the jack that came with the car, just a lot easier. This way I can use the same jacking points, and leave a place free for jack stands.

Under the car you'll see two channel strips running the length of the car, that look like a frame. Just behind the front wheels you'll see another stiffener running from the edge of the car to the long strip. They come together just behind the fender, and make a decent size pad for a jack stand. That's the area I shoot for. The ears on one of my jack stands are bent flat, so I put it there. The other jack stand still has ears on it, so it won't work there. I put that one on the long channel, as close as I can to the pad I described.

I know my description is not the best. A picture would be better. Look just behind the fender for a place that looks pretty solid. Pay close attention to the location of your fuel lines so you don't puncture anything with the jack stand.

I have had luck with the members that run down the sides of the car.

They look like square tube just under the car. I set the jack stands just infront of the jack.

One on each side keeps the front end in the air no problem.

I would avoid using the jack points on in the owners manual. On these cars you are liable to push the jack right through the rocker pannel and then you WILL BE PISSED!!

yah on my fc, i used jackstands on the "suggested" ( :rolleyes: ) mounting points for jackstands, ended up pushing the fucking floorboard up 4 inches , had a nice bubble in the interior, hahah nothing a rubber malled didnt fix tho, lol

Yea those damn pinch welds are not at all a good place to lift a 20yr old car. I always just jack my car up in the middle of the crossmember and throw the jacks on the sides. Kinda squeezy but it's nice and solid. I have to jack up the side to be able to roll the front one under with enough clearance. Kind of a pita but thats the routine.

Yea you just gotta wath to not crush the oilpan when jacking from the crossmember. I put my jackstands under the tension rod brackets. They are very strong.
