Where can I find these wheels?

Can someone identify these wheels? I saw these on ebay, and was told they come off a '86. I would like to know where I can find them. When I saw them on ebay, they were already sold.
LOL, my neighbor thinks they are ugly as hell, but I'm not a fan of seeing my brake rotors, ect.. I like the look of a solid looking wheel.

This is all the info I have on them.
4 - 4 lug aluminum wheels off of 86 Rx7
The tires on them are 185 70R14

rotorhead 11-21-01 10:03 AM

ummm, my dad has the same wheels on his 4x4..... gonna get a lift kit too? i should talk, i had some 70's lookin' slot mags on my old '79... the ones with 5 kidney bean shaped slots...:D if you like 'em, get 'em! its your car.... personally, if i wanted to hide the brake rotors, i'd get gsl-se wheels or a set of 2nd gens like abeomid's. the problem with first gens(non SE) is that it's pretty tough to find a place that carries the correct size wheel (bolt spacing).

error402 11-21-01 10:11 AM

LOL, on his 4x4? Hmmm...

Yeah, i'm aware of the diffculty of finding the right bolt pattern. I was think about converting the lug set on my 7 to a 5 set sometime in the future anyways. just haven't had the time to think about too much. :D

rotorhead 11-21-01 10:12 AM

waitaminute...... i just checked abeomid's car and it's got 5 spokers.... who the heck's car was that? i know it had the same swanky paint job

rotorhead 11-21-01 10:16 AM

now that i think about it, dad's were made by 'keystone'. i'm sure his were just a tad too big for 7 use( full size chevy 4x4, 6" lift) but they may have something similar in a smaller size. check 'american racing' too, i know they've got tons of styles.

cjf 11-21-01 10:19 AM

sorry bubb, they are butt ugly to me...butt (no pun intended), what do I know....cjf..................................

Pele 11-21-01 10:19 AM

They're allright, but they need something else to go with them. They'd go with the whole muscle car look.

I like seeing my brake rotors... Well. I will when I have nice looking calipers and hoses to boot.

mar3 11-21-01 11:17 AM

Absolutely horrible and I'll bet they weigh just short of a metric ton, too.:p I think they're American Racing rims - Outlaw I or II. Your local Pep Boys or Kragen probably carries them still but I don't know if they'll have the correct bolt pattern. They were cheap, bulky imitations of Centerline's Pro Stock wheels of the late '80s...

error402 11-21-01 11:34 AM

:D I never claimed that I was the brightest bulb in the box. ;)
hehehehe, any idea where I can find similar wheels? The biggest reason why I like these are the mini bolts near the outside rim. I'm going with a black and yellow interior for a anime/industrial look too it and I wanted the intustrial look on my wheels.

yeah they are the outlaw II's cheap as hell, and yeah your local pep boys has em, they are cheap, not too light, but cheap
and they do look good on a muscle car, my bro had a 65 mustang with em and they looked great

mar3 11-21-01 01:26 PM

It depends totally on how deep your pockets are. I think Centerline still makes the Pro Stock wheel and, if they do, bolt pattern and spacing is up to you. They'll also be lighter than the A/R rims but definitely not as cheap. The regular Centerline "Drag" wheel also has the exposed rivets and will be lighter still and also a little cheaper than the Pro Stocks but, again, not as cheap as the A/Rs. Check the classifieds in the newspaper and your local AutoTrader for people unloading rims. Once in a while, a gem can be found on the extreme cheap. I found my Weds "Autobahn" rims that way. $250 for all 4 15" x 7" rims with Falken V rubber. He couldn't get rid of'em cuz of the bolt pattern.:D

sweet! thanks for your help, i'll start looking around this weekend. :D

Looks Like The american racing is closer with the holes and all. gamble is correct, but the AR web site has them listed as truck/suv wheels. They do not have them in a 4x110mm pattern.

They are CHEAP though!

:D

gamble302 11-22-01 04:29 PM

go for em if you really want the muscle car look, they looked great on my bros old car. hey i was wondering if anyones tried using mustang rims on their se's or se converted cars. if got 3 sets of stang rims sitting around at my house, and i also want to upgrade to se brakes. just wondering if those wheels would fit

error402 11-22-01 09:43 PM

yayarx7 those are great! Yeah, I figured the set of wheels I want won't fit my 7. I'm already prepared to do a wheel conversion, if needed.

I love the look. It's funny because I would have never associated them with muscle cars. I'm not a muscle car fan by any means(no hard feelings, it's just not what floats my boat).

I am worried about the wheel wieght. Any suggestions on that?

mar3 11-23-01 09:23 AM

Yes. Spend the dime and get the Centerlines. I'll keep an eye in our local newspaper for any deals if you're willing to pay the shipping to get 'em to Kansas, toto.:p I'llEmail the ad from the paper, so you know it'll be on the up and up...

peejay 11-24-01 09:58 AM

There have been SO many variations of that design that it's hard to say. Heck, some S-10s and mini-Blazers came with something similar from the factory!

I think it's sweet looking, though. I don't think they look like a solid block, really, but the rivets and the holes are just right. They look almost as good as my Diamond wheels. :D (Silver 13x7's, 4 1/2" backspacing)

error402 11-24-01 12:43 PM

I'm willing to pay shipping as long its for something I like. :)
Yeah so, if you come across some just drop me a email, or a post.
I like the solid look, because I think they look awsome when driving. All you see is this solid shinny silvery disc. ooooOOOooooooo...shinnny. :P

hanman 11-25-01 11:07 AM

error
where you from in Kansas?

error402 11-25-01 02:01 PM

Roeland Park, KS
..about 5 min drive from Kansas City,
..about 5 min drive form Overland Park,
..about 5 min drive from Mission,
..about 10 min drive from Olathe,
..about 35 min drive from Topeka,
..about 35 min drive from Gardner,

I pretty much live in th middle of everything. (It helps that I have I-70, I-35, and I-435 very close by) :)

treceb 11-26-01 08:37 AM

hey, error. These wheels are similar.http://stylee.8m.com/cgi-bin/i/car_i...1980purple.jpg
or these

SIX TWO SLEEPER 11-26-01 10:28 AM

I'd go with some old Pinto/Fairmont Mustang 4-lug rims. They are plentiful in yards, have a variety of neat styles and many of them have aftermarket rims similar to what you want. By "FAIRMONT MUSTANG" I mean the '79-93 model, the '94+ is on the fairmont chassis but it is five lug and pinto mustang is '74-78.

mar3 11-26-01 10:56 AM

Nothing interesting in the papers this weekend.---To yayarx7-> can you get a picture of the Centerline Pro-Stock wheel like you did for the regular drag wheel? I'm pretty sure this is exactly what he's looking for...or he could sell his ride and buy the finished one in treceb's pic; it's even got a phone number if I remember right.

error402 11-26-01 02:11 PM

SPOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOON!!!

treceb - those are the ones!! *happy little dance*:blue: now i just have to find them.

SIX TWO SLEEPER, that's not a bad idea, i might have to try that if i can't find these wheels.

(i haven't had my coffe yet)

which ones. the link or the pic??
If its the link, good luck(sorry to have gotten you all psyched), the car is from overseas. If its the pic, weld racing and cragars carry them.
As for the centerlines, they also are very similar, but probably way lighter. My dad had those in his bug. 3"in the front 6" in the rear.

allright, another fan of "the TICK". ok maybe not:hahaha:
