heh kinda sorta, shes becoming the baddest 12a drag car anybody has ever seen, totally track only meaning im taking it all the way, anybody know of advice or info on the lightweight race rotors and rotor housings RB has to offer, just trying to gather opinions on it thanks :D

Good Lord, I can't wait until I have the time (and another 7 to drive) so I can pull my baby apart, clean her up, and make her how she should be. As it is, she just swallows my pay checks and gets me greasy in between class =]

I noticed you plan on keeping the 12a.... what's your plan? I absolutely love mine and will not be swapping in anything else and am very interested in how you plan on making power.

The world's quickest 12A rotary over the 1/4 mile is this almost certainly this car.

Owned by Boris from Delirium Racing in Puerto Rico, this Datsun 1200 is powered by a 12A turbo. It's best time is 8.27 @ 160 mph!
This is quite an achievement as there are many 13B and 20B powered cars that are 2 or 3 seconds slower than this.

Here's what Boris said about the car (minor edit by me):
The car is a 1972 Datsun 1200 full tube mild steel chassis. It has the 12A with an Innovative turbo and wastegate, a Tial blowoff valve a Greddy intercooler with 4 1100cc injectors. The throttle body is custom made and has a Racing Beat intake. It runs the stock distributor with MSD 6AL boxes and coils. The fuel injection system is a Haltech F-9 programmed by Jorge "Oso" Juarbe. The engine has a port job done by Jose Burgos.
We use VP Race fuel with a Aeromotive fuel pump and regulator. We use a Mc Leod clutch with a G-Force 5 speed clutchless tranny. This hooks up to a 9" Ford rearend with 4.56 gears. The tires used are 29X12 Goodyear slicks.

this is the setup i am shooting for with minor changes in it, i am not sure if the car has n20 or not or weighs less than mine will stripped to nothing, hopefully not because im shooting for the weight atvantage. i will also be using a different 12a motor, one with lightened housing and race rotors for extreme durability and hell its over 60% lighter than a stock motor. i might use a 4 speed clutchless tranny because just using it drag i will never need overdrive and i can customize the gears g-force puts in them. all in all thats my basic plan, hopefully i can make some money when im done to maybe get 2% of the total cost reinbursed ;) , lots of money and lots of time but i love every minute of it and cant wait till im done.

That pic looks like the engine was photoshoped in there. Look at the bolt where the water pump goes. In the original pic of the engine, is it sitting up by the flywheel?

it doesnt come cheap cost 60$ a month to rent that tiny ass garage, oh well as long as i can get my welder and air tools in it at one time im happy

WackyRotary 11-18-02 02:24 PM

Not very cheap, may be cheaper to build your own garage for that cost, just something to think about.

JEC-31 11-18-02 04:20 PM

That's where I'm headed too, except substitute "all-around-fun" for "all-out-drag".
My revised schedule calls for minor sandblasting this spring, but I'm pulling the motor first!
