Not an -SE expert but it sounds like the fuel pump is only running when cranking.
So - crank engine - fuel pump kicks on - engine starts - turn key from start to run - fuel pump shuts off - engine dies after a couple seconds. Maybe controller doesn't see engine as running? (did you put in a GOOD trailing ignitor?) I've also seen a faulty ignition switch do this on another Mazda (non-RX-7 tho). |
check your plug wires, if you have them crossed it'll really fuxor things up. You also might want to check your fuel pump/filter/system, how long has the car been sitting since you last drove it?
hope you get 'er running! --matt |
speckamp sent you a PM

Do as speckamp says regarding plug wires. Lead wires go the the bottom of the housings, trailing to the top. Distrib cap is marked L1, T1, etc.
Pop open the air-filter box, and while a pardner turns trys the starter shoot engine start spray into the intake hose. If the engine keeps running you've got fuel filter/fuel pump problems. Tackle the fuel filter first. Cheez, a New Mexico SE...All I can see is a NO Rust Seven. If you find that the little hoss ain't your baby send me a PM and I'll add the little "nasty" to my corral. That's if I can beat Max7 to it. Best to yuh.. Denny, from the 'ol corncrib... :D |
