What's 'kicking in' on my SE?
Noticing a strange little problem on my newly acquired SE. Start cold, all fine, let warm up a while. Then going up the road, changing 1st, 2nd, all fine. Go into third, when rpms reach about 3K or so, just about when I'm going to 4th, I feel something 'kick in' with a good bit more power. I don't notice it happening any other time, but frankly the weather sucks so bad, I haven't drove it much. New NGK's, cap and rotor. Wires are fairly new, does it sound like wires, or those mysterious 'actuators' I hear about? The car is smooth as silk running otherwise. What y'all think?

It could be the 6 ports in action! :) nothing mysterious about em.

So..its supposed to do that? Feels almost like a plug wire kicking in. But, this is my first SE. If it's normal, cool! Other opinions from SE owners welcome!

Your ports are kicking in while you're in the middle of the torque band - all part of the fun

Ohh...how 'bout that! Thank God for this forum, I'd 'a had that engine in a million pieces looking for a problem that didn't exist!
(Ok, I'd have probably PAID to have the engine in a million pieces). Thanks much guys! :bigthumb: I'd really like to learn more about how these actuators work, when they open, etc. Any good threads explaining this in 'simpleton' terms? |
