ok iv been reading stuff and it seems like everyone likes the stock one but me im wanting to go all out with subs a amp all of that um fogot what CD player im useing but its not the stock one just wanted to see what everyone is useing

Haha, my stereo is the mazda 12a, or I guess 13b in my -SE, haha.

If it has to be a real stereo tho, its gotta be Alpine, or Pioneer!
Ive owned quite a few brands, and nothing can touch em. The cheapo Pioneer I picked up for my winter beater absolutely kills the top of the line panasonic/others I used to have. The first time I listened to my pioneer, my mind was made up.

Sony is a close 3rd, but still gets beaten by the champs. Anything else isnt even worth trying anymore IMO..

A bit more advice, If your going for the whole package (new head unit, amps, speakers, and subs) I reccomend that you get a head unit with designated RCA style subwoofer output, and a built in crossover/sub level adjustment.

Your also gonna want a head unit that has some sort of high pass crossover on the front channel, so that your front speakers dont sound like crap when you turn up the bass (another reason the sub level/crossover adjustment is important).

If the front channel output isnt adjustable, your gonna want to invest in a set of "bass blockers" which are basically just a capicitor that you wire in line to your front speakers so that your not pushing low frequencies to the tiny front speakers (important if you want good sound).
Other than that, you shouldnt really need anything special. Just ask lots of questions before you buy anything, and make sure your investing in a quality setup. If theres one thing I can say to help you, it would be to not buy junk. In the car audio world, you really get what you pay for. And notice I said investing, a good audio setup will last a long time, usually you only buy good stuff once, whereas crap really just doesnt last.

Edit: Sorry, I forgot one thing. Your audio setup is really only as strong as the weakest link, and often people spend thousands of dollars on equipment, only to hook it up with some shotty wires they find in their basement, often home audio RCA cables are used as well.
It is very important to use high quality wiring, especially the RCA's. While many people say it doesnt matter, It really really does.
I reccomend some serious stranded power/ground wire (I run 8 guage) and most importantly sheilded RCA wires designed for car audio.

I think I spent somewhere in the range of $200 just on wiring last time I installed a stereo setup. It may not seem important, and $200 for wiring sounds like a lot, but think about the whole package. You dont go buying a turbo car and putting regular gas in it. It just doesnt make sense, save your pennies and do the whole thing right.

hey openshot i don't mean to be an ass but Pyramid is not a good reliable audio brand. they are very cheaply made and they will not last very long. i know this because i have used them before.....Before you put all that work into installing your system i say you should get something of better quality first.

This all sounded great in the 7!, I even had the sub hidden under the storage bin frame in the back (thats why the box looks sketchy). This setup absolutely killed my cheap old stereo system consisting of wallmart special front and rear speakers, 2 15" bolt subs, and a panasonic head unit.
I can honestly say after this setup, Ill never go back to cheap crap.

I know it is not the best but to me it is a starter set for me and I got it cheap for 90

Certainly bends/flexes it, but no breakages.
