What kind of MPG are you all getting?

I'd like to find out what sort of real world miles per gallon everyone is getting on their cars.

Thanks in advance! :)

Thanks, whitey85mtu!

As you can see... I'm new to this. ;)

OneRotor 08-08-06 01:28 PM

lowest mileage i've ever recorded was 5mpg, best was 24mpg

Rogue_Wulff 08-08-06 01:40 PM

I average around 20-21 in town, and 24-26 on the highway. Both would likely be a little higher, if I resisted the urge to open the secondaries more often.
I have gotten below 15 a couple times, by taking it to the track and playing around for the day.
Engine is mostly stock, with a freer flowing air cleaner and exhaust.

Theres a thread on this thats pretty long already. Do a search and you should find it.

I did search before I posted but didn't find anything useful. Guess I'm not all that good at searching. I'll see if I can find the one to which you're referring.

How fast do you guys go on the highway? I only get about 18-20mpg on the highway but Im always between 70-80mph.

novaboy009 08-08-06 03:48 PM

25-27 highway, about 16 around town.

102,000 miles, fresh fuel filter, K&N air filter..... that's it lol.

flight_of_pain 08-08-06 03:54 PM

im getting 15mpg average. most of that is highway driving, and maybe 25% city. and i drive about 70-80 all the time on the highway, and the car doesnt like low speeds or low rpms. i have a heavy foot, and i live down a curvy country road. ;)

this is on a streetported (ive been told) Gslse with a rb intake manifold and holley 600, with rb true dual exhaust to a single universal muffler.

coldy13 08-08-06 04:58 PM

10-17mpg depending how much I boost :)

stockport 12a, TII Turbo, nikki carb(stock/255 jets), 2.5" straight pipe

Ephiphany 08-08-06 06:28 PM

Right now, because I can't figuer out what the hell is wrong(((AAARGGGHHH))) it's runnign really rich and I am getting an average of 9-10 MPG with a stock GSL-SE.I will fix it eventually once I find out what to look for!

255? daumn, those are ginormous jets. I hope those are your secondaries

PaulFitzwarryne 08-08-06 06:50 PM

With stock 12A with many bolt-on modifications such as modded Nikki, 122rwhp 28mpg highway 23mpg urban.

With relatively stock 12AT with good exhaust system, FMIC and Microtech ecu, 220rwhp 26mpg highway 22mpg urban.

Wife's 13BT and streetport, 285rwhp 18mpg highway, 12mpg urban on premium fuel: that is why I am changing to a 12AT with the future high cost of fuel.

The highway is at averaging 68-70mph on relatively flat roads minimum traffic, while the urban is averaging 30mph as never have to drive in heavy city traffic. Driving style is moderately sporty, but usually change gear at 3,000rpm. Average one speed ticket every three years!

notveryhappyjack 08-08-06 06:57 PM

240 miles per 16 gallon tank, 3/4 heavy city driving...doing the math makes me sad so I leave it at that

rb exhuast and KN filter are only mods

Yeah, those are the secondaries. I was running 235's and it felt good, but I got some free dyno time to tune it and found it was going lean at high rpm even with 235's, so I drilled em out more to 255 and it didn't go past 13.0:1

SevenHeaven 08-08-06 07:01 PM

I don't want to think about my MPG... It just depresses me. My 03 Cobra gets better milage then my stock 12A. And the Cobra is modded... :wallbash:

Oh well I can always live in the cars :crying:

broke7 08-08-06 07:07 PM

if your worried about mpg you don't need a rx 7 i don't want to figure mine 84 gsl 13b 4 port half bridge with a dellorto and soon to have a 48 ida should go past everything but the gas station

Well 13.0:1 at high rpms sounds good to me, not sure if you want it that lean in a turbo application. But if you want it richer at top end you should maybe try smaller air bleeds?

coldy13 08-08-06 09:50 PM

I would have gotten smaller air bleeds, but I'm using a nikki carb, don't think anyone sells different size air bleeds or jets for them. I'm happy with how its tuned now, it's a little rich at mid RPM's(11.5-12:1), and slowly gets leaner to 13:1 at 7500. Around 13:1 is where it will make the most power.

cdrad51 08-08-06 10:24 PM

Oh yeah I forgot the stock nikki can't use holley jets like a sterling. Oh well you seem to be doing fine anyways.

Jozay721 08-08-06 10:30 PM

im gettin 12city 20 highway depending on how i drive. i got...
KandN air filter
electic fan
no a/c
no p/s(ofcourse)
An RB full exhaust with high flow cat instead of presilenser
