What kind of ignition coils do you use?
 

As titled....this is a thread for seeing what kind of coils people use. Im having trouble with mine (could be the dizzy i guess...or the brands of coils) so i wanted to see what kinds you guys use.

I was thinking factory coils would be the best bet for a stock ignition...from mazdatrix maybe

i've used the oem coils for years without any trouble. they are extremely reliable if used with stock ignition components. they are produced by Diamond. i have also used MSD blaster coils with good results.

I use FORD TFI coils (from F150 trucks in the JY). They work great.

I'm still using the 30-year-old original stock Diamond coils. Working just dandy, after all these years.

stock OEM diamonds here too. only coil i have ever blown up was due to a bad plug wire, bad plug wire = coil having to work harder = overheat = leak

very nice guys. I may order a set from mazdatrix soon and see what happens. I feel that it may be my problem.

when I first got the car I knew nothing about the rotary (barely anywho) nor about what parts should/shouldn't be replaced. If I remember correctly, I replaced the coils while replacing other components (ones that didnt need it anyway, just to do some maintenance). This could be where my current coil problem started. Ones from the auto parts store....although made for the rx7, may not be good enough.

since then I keep losing them, but it may be my dizzy. we will see

You can buy MSD coils that are OK to lay on their side - -the same ones used for off-roaders. I've a post in a thread in here somewhere that references the right part numbers. Cost a few bucks more, but are hermetically sealed for no oil leak, better heat tolerance.
