What if? Think!
What would you drive or tinker with if the RX7 had never been thought of???
|
240/260/280Z, what else?
|
a 280zx turbo
|
Triumph Spitfire.
Maybe a fibreglass dunebuggy. |
definately a nissan, 240/300 or if i could afford it, a porsche
|
If I had the money I would be driving a shelby cobra and since I dont have money probably a moped becouse of the gas price right now.
|
escort/honda/miata turbo
|
dsm all the way
|
mr2supercharged because i hace one.lol .there freakin fast and can handle great for there price m/r is almost as good as rotary.hahaha
|
Probably an old school Datsun 1600 with an SR20DET. Or an Escort RS2000.
Actually, if it wasn't an Rx-7 it would probably be an R-100, Rx-2 or Rx-3. :D |
260/280
|
I'd be driving either a mid 90's Mustang, or a 240sx.
|
Corvair Turbo
RXDad |
Datsun 280z/zx, That's what I was messin' with before my first rx-7. Love that straight six sound at full song.:D
|
Also maybe Turbo dodge.
|
a 50th Anniversary 300zx would be great!
|
Haha, technically that question doesnt rule out RX-2's, 3's, 4's, Cosmo's, or REPU's. So being the rotary lover I am...one of those. LOL
|
I would go with a mk3 supra/starion/conquest
|

240sx, eagle talon, or porsche 944.
Probably the porsche 944. |
240z or a supra
|
Here I though everybody was in love with their car's unique engine and it turns out a bunch of you just liked the shape of the car. LOL I love sevens but they're too small, if they didn't have a Rotary engine I woudn't give it the time of day. You can guess how I feel about Datsun Z cars. If I'm driving or tinkering with something else it's gonna be one of my Thunderbird SC's or Big Block Siverado HD.
Vernon P.S. I'm 5'10" and 179 lbs. but I like my space. |
Nice to see a good response. :bigthumb:
|
we all do like the engine, that's why we have rx7's and not z cars
|
Very interesting reply's, I no longer drive an RX for now and am driving a 1991 240SX. I am very surprised at the amount of votes for the 240, before I got this car I never even considered one or even looked at one. I must say though it is a very nice car, handles well and is quite good looking. I will once again have a rotary but for now this is a nice way to go.

Hell, I originally got an RX-7 partly because I couldn't find a cheap MGB. I still want one, too, but the things that interest me nowadays requrie a fixed roof and if you thought MGBs were expensive, price out an MGB-GT! |
AE-86 , prolly any supra, not so sure about z cars, possilby the 240sx, old celica?..
|
No RX-7? Cosmo Sport would be the choice.
No rotary engines?, perish the thought! but if that were the case, I would probably get a sunbean tiger, they are about the same size as a cobra they also came converted with a ford v-8, and their price tag is not nearly as high for an original good condtion model as the cobra is. kenn |
as per signature: F350 diesel
|
small block chevy powerd manx buggy
|

I really don't care for all those shit early to mid 90's imports. My boss owns a '90 300ZX and I never like the styling. But since he put the Veilside body kit on it, it looks, well, not much better. |
I'd say my old Ford F-100, an old 240, a Fox Bodied Mustang GT, or ATVs/Motorcycles.
=Eric |
A Plymouth Sapporo (kudos to anyone who knows what that is ;) )
Mazda's 323s are nice, as are the old Z cars. I still like my big trucks and muscle cars, too :D |
I want a Ford T model
|
Uh, probably my Turbo Maserati?
Lol, that's just me blatant plug. :D |
I'd be driving my old civic right now if I hadn't have gotten the 7. it wasn't that bad, fully tricked out. Body kit rims head and tail lights stereo exhaust everything but a engine swap, but I did that to the seven :)

The interior was nicer than a lot of new econo-boxes, it was straightforward to work on, got good mileage, fit TONNES of stuff in the hatch, and took a licking and kept on ticking. I'd jump on a rust free 5-speed one. |

I too would go for the older S30 chassis Z cars. The Z31 and on weren't cool at all. The only other Japanese Sports Car I would nod my head to.
Umm my other choices would probably be some early 90s or late 80s Lotus Esprits, or an 80s TVR Roadster. I've been able to track them all down for cheap and considered them, bt I'd rather look for the perfect 7 instead (prolly dumb, but oh well) |

I'd go with a early-'80s Porsche 911 I guess. Something Subaru might be fun. |
My 323, unfortunately, did NOT take a licking and keep on ticking.
The build quality on it is AMAZING for a base model car. It's like an FC interior, but it doesn't fall apart when you look at it :D But, the damn Ford 4 Speed transmission is a piece of shit. I'm trading it, with busted tranny, tomorrow for said Plymouth Sapporo. 2 Kudos to PATZ for knowing about this awesome car. Next to the Mustang, it's probably one of the last RWD Economuscles. In all honesty, though, this thing is ANYTHING but economy (nor is it American!) It gets HORRIBLE times, though, for what it is. A "Fox" Mustang sized, RWD, 2300 pound car, with a 2.4 litre FOUR BANGER, getting 17's?! Rediculous! In Australia, it's sold as the Mitsubishi Scorpio, or something along those lines, and in Japan is the Econosport version of the Galant (Called the Galant GSL, of all things). Just for anyone that's curious ;) |

1967 shelby gt 500...with a big block 440 with cobra jets and a titanium camden supercharger...either that or a 66 fastback with a small block 400 out of a GTO!~! :)
|
Celica All track gt-4, R100, or Rx-3.
Maybe even an old Porsche 928 or Toyota Supra late 80's version. The 3l turbo that looks like a series 3 but only longer. |
