What the hell is it???

What is the electronic module thing located under the storage boxes behind the driver seat. The wire harness that runs to the back of the car plugs into it and then comes back out it. Its gold colored and to my knowlege does absolutly nothing. I unpluged it and it seemed every thing worked fine. I cant for the life of me determine what it could do. Someone shed some light on what the heck this is. THANKS

FWIW--I think the cruise control box looks like that also and is in the drivers side bin.

On cars with the external amplifiers, the amps mount to the side of the bin framework. IOW they mount vertically, between the floor and the bin opening. Left side is rear, right side is front.

On cars with cruise control, the cruise control module mounts to the floor in the left side bin area, below where the rear amp is.

Sound sto me like the cruise control.

:werd: peejay is right, it's the cruise control module. Mine isn't even gold colored anymore. More of an oxidized white. Remove it and the cruise control stuff under the hood.

Mine is fried (along with rear amp) from water intrusion.

I miss having cruise control. It's so nice to have on longish trips - I have issues with my right ankle and it starts to get sore after a half hour or so. Three hours and i can barely walk. Cruise helps greatly.

Philosophically speaking, though, it means I will have one less cable to adapt to whatever replaces the Nikki.

Yup, one reason I also removed the cold and hot start assist devices too. Only two cables go to the carb now. Choke and accel. cables.
