I think I remember him mentioning a new 4 letter word in one of his last posts.

WORK

Dooms us all. Maybe we should all have a lotto pool, strike it rich, quit work and devote all our time to Rx-7's?

Rx7carl 12-10-03 08:27 AM

Well he needs to get a job that allows him to forum surf. Like me :D

Sterling 12-10-03 10:20 AM

Yeah. I know I sure feel much better flying knowing Carls on the job.

i'm planning to park my car under a bridge, live in it and then scrounge aluminum cans to sell for parts and food. I'll keep my laptop with wireless so I can snag a connenction from an unprotected wireless access point. Still gotta get to the forums, ya know. :D

WORK

Yup, thats the one guys. I have to work. Unfortunatly, Im always outside, and dont have access to a computer until I get home, which isnt until around 7 or so, then I talk to my girlfriend on the phone for a while, and usually just sit around and watch TV. But, since I only have one phone line and have the phone occupied, I cant really be online as much as I used to be.

Fortunatly, I got a new little toy that will be helping with gas mileage and insurance rates. I picked it up for a good price, and plan to ride it through the spring/summer while I save money for my car even more :).

http://www.angelfire.com/space/rotor...r/Dsc02362.jpg

I also was building a custom HID headlight for it using a projector assembly from a BMW 3-Series I picked up at work. Progress has been slow but steady as I suddenly have no more spare time, and when I do, I have a major lack of motivation to do anything :D. So, if you guys are interested, there are some pictures of my hybrid light below.

I basically took the stock H4 housing, removed the glass, took out all the projector shields and bulb holders and junk, the cut a hole in the back of the headlight housing to hold the projector unit...

http://www.angelfire.com/space/rotor...t/Dsc02367.jpg

Then, using my trusty hot glue gun, I made it all stay that way temporarily until I could epoxy it :D...

http://www.angelfire.com/space/rotor...t/Dsc02368.jpg

Actually, the hot glue wouldnt be so bad if the light had fit the way I originally intended it to. The projector had to go in at an angle because it was hitting the frame behind the light housing, which I hadnt planned on. You can see here how the upper edge (actually the bottom of the light) of the light is actually inside the housing, whereas the bottom is on the outside...

http://www.angelfire.com/space/rotor...t/Dsc02369.jpg

The problem this presented was the light "horizon" was now WAY too high, blinding anyone in front of the bike. I gave up at this point because I couldnt figure out a way to make the horizon come down because if I moved the projector forward in the housing to clear the frame and tilt down, it would no longer fit behind the front glass. Finally one night the solution hit me, and it was so simple I couldnt belive I missed it before. I oculd simply bend the built in light shield to move the horizon to the proper level taking into account the fact that the projector was tilted.

Anyway, after it was all said and done, here are some pictures of my working prototype...

Side view (no fairings on bike): http://www.angelfire.com/space/rotor...t/Dsc02375.jpg

Front view (still no fairings :)): http://www.angelfire.com/space/rotor...t/Dsc02376.jpg

What you see as you ride, and what we all would love to see in front of us on a dark back road (no smartass, not the house :D):

http://www.angelfire.com/space/rotor...t/Dsc02381.jpg

Anyway, there you have my recent "life" summed up, as well as my new project :). The light has turned out well since those pictures were taken as well. Minor tweaking of the bulb holder I fabricated has placed the bulb more centered in front of the lens giving me a great spread of light and a more crisp horizon without the wavyness to it. Its getter better each time I mess with it. I should have a nice headlight on my bike for those back road twisties soon enough :).

EDIT: Those dude that stole the car are still getting away scott free as of now, the case is still "under investigation".

Cody 12-11-03 12:29 AM

You should have gotten one of those Suzukis with the single rotor engine.

What was it...an RE-5?

AdrenalifeRX7 12-11-03 12:51 AM

Man I didn't post for like 2 months and no one missed me, lol. Nice to know you're alive Teej.

how about you just go and kill them... maybe you will get away scott free... since it will be "under investigation"

red13brx7 12-11-03 10:56 AM

Thats the first time I saw that you got your car stolen, my sympathy to you, looking at those pictures almost made me shed a tear.. Goodluck with your rebuild.

Just leave a little crank bag full of battery scrapings where they can find 'em.

That's too funny- I had had a similar thought about a bag of refer laced w/ paraquat!:p:

=( But here we are kinda getting a little crazy.
All for a stolen Rx-7? A life, no. An appendage each, well now we're talking realistic "punishment matching the crime"!:p:

CheddaKing 12-11-03 02:13 PM

[i] An appendage each, well now we're talking realistic "punishment matching the crime"!:p:
Now we just need to find a judge who owns a 7 to make this a reality... Muhahahaha

RotorMotorDriver 12-12-03 10:09 PM

Im ahead of you all. I already posted want ads in local papers looking for RX-7 performance parts, and business cards at local auto part stores :).
