What exactly is an EGR port?
Ok, I know EGR means Exhaust Gas Recirculation. But what all does it do?
|
Recirculates exhaust gases into the intake, under certain engine conditions. Basic theory is that it reduces exhaust temps (and therefore Nox) by diluting the fuel mix with already-spent gases, during periods where exhaust temps are high.
|
Stu,
during cruising speeds, the EGR valve opens allowing exhaust into the intake manifold. The purpose of this is to cool the temperature of the combustion inside as the spark plug fires. This in turn, lowers emissions. |
Ah. So it's like taking a poo.... then eating it.

Yea.... ;)..
