What Does This Thing Do??

Hello fellas,

I am in the process of restoring the 85 GS and ran across this thing that is bolted under the driver's side storage bin. I have already removed all of the stock sound equipment and thrown it in the trash, but I"m still wondering what this thing is. The harness that goes to it is in pretty bad shape and three of the wires in the harness are actually cut in half. I'm hoping that it is part of the stock stereo so I can just toss it in the garbage can. If anyone knows what this thing does please tell me so I know whether to throw it in the trash or break out the soldering iron. :D Thanks guys!

Yes, I concur, that is the cruise control module.

All the plugs in that area are for the stereo amp (appears to be removed), cruise control module and the fuel pump drops down thru a groument.

sounds like it's your amplifier for the clarion stereo system. perhaps a better description would be great but thats the only thing i know of that is under there that would be in question. the other wiring is for the fuel pump and wiring for the storage bin lights and vehicle lighting.

I have been Under there and I am pretty sure it's your amp..

Though mine wasn't nearly as bad as that, and mine was in the same location!

I unhooked my unit yrs ago!!

I already removed the rest of the stock sound system, so I don't give a crap about that stuff. And the cruise control I basically have no use for either seeing as I removed it too. :D So what I'm gathering from the info is that I can remove this thing and it wont have any ill effects on my car? Thanks for the good info guys!
