Want to know what u guys think about me installing an apex1 N1 muffler and 2 1/4 piping from a muffler shop. i was thinking of running a freeflow cat???? my rx7 is stock no mods and no turbo. i dont really wont to spend all that money for a new rb exhaust system. any feed back would be great. i will be buying a header for my car next week. :wallbash:

Do you have emissions there?? That muffler will not last that many years on a rotary because the heat the rotary generates. Go with borla...great tone, people on here have them and so far have been great and lasted long. What kind of header you getting?? Without a cat or presilencer, the car will be LOUD.

Those stainless mufflers are tolerable on a rotary with the stock manifold, when used solo. Add a header, and it will be loud. Ask me how I know.
The high flow cat will help to keep the sound level in check, though. Without the cat, better plan on the presilencer as well as the header. I haven't got the presilencer installed on my car yet, due to the routing of the pipe. I have only driven it about 1,000 miles since I put the header on, partly due to the noise level. The white winter played a role in the low miles as well.

Stainless straight through muffler with resonators lasted about 1 month behind my PP motor !

wow great advise I forgot all about borla and that they make a univeral muffler. as for the header not sure what brand to use yet. I saw the pacesetter and I saw the rb one. any diffrence between the two

twinkletoes 03-16-07 04:14 PM

Go with RB, seriously. They have a great reputation and have great products.

Pacesetter uses 16ga tubing. Lifespan is about 3-5 years.
RB uses 1/8" thick tubing. Lifespan? Prolly longer than the body will survive.

If you want a mean deep sound get some headers made up out of 5mm steam pipe

dbragg 03-16-07 06:55 PM

get borla. but dont go straight pipe straight back to the muffler unless you want a very undesirable noisy car. heres my set up:

RB header+RB presilencer+magnaflow+borla

FirebirdSlayer666 03-16-07 07:13 PM

I haven't actually seen the lights in action on a car outside of my own so I wouldn't mind seeing some of those LOL.

How much would that cost? I'm looking for a 12A header an i definatly don't want it to be a tinny sounding engine
