what class would a turbo first gen be in scca?
 

i am curious if anyone can help me out. my car is pretty heavily modified but the block is stock. would i run in some insaine class with tubeframe cars or would i be where turbo2's and fd's run. i looked over the scca rulebook but didnt really figure anything out. i know i can probialy run in time only but i want to win another trophy:D

In Solo, I'm not positive, but I'd be willing to bet you'd be in E Mod, which is any chassis, any driveline.. good luck.. he he In road racing, you'd more than likely be stuffed into Improved Touring E. Turbos and superchargers are prohibited in all other classes in Amateur Club Racing. ITE is a catch-all class, where cars that aren't full-out GT cars, but for some other other reason (such as having a turbo) don't fit into any other class. It is a regional class, so you may not have it in your local region. You'll be running against third gen RX7's, some nasty Vettes, 944's. There's a Speedvision Cup 911 that races at Summit Point in SCCA. N/A, but still fast as hell.. he he

This information should be good for you considering that our club uses the scca rules with one year delay.

If you take a 13b engine and put a second gen turbo on it or just swap in the whole T2 engine then its just a regular engine swap and you will be in ASP versus CSP if you just port your current engine.

If you put an aftermarket turbo or anyting from an other make than mazda they you will fall into the modified classes.

Example:

A corola GTS with thesupercharger of an Mr2 is in street prepared
Where a Subaru impresa with a turbo Kit is in modifed.


The classification may vary slightly but the rules should be very similar.
