What is this?

Air Conditioning Compressor...
In order to loosen it, you have to take out those bolts... just remember righty-tighty lefty-loosey. |
What, Fords don't have ac? :D
You can see the 2 bolts on top, there should be another 2 underneath on the ears. Simple. |
Looks like an AC compressor. Are you trying to remove it or change the belt? If I remember correctly its easier to remove the bolts that hold the bracket to the engine then take everything off at once.

If you just want to move it, you should be able to... it looks like there is some flexible hose, so you could probably inch it over if you need to. If you take it off, remember that its running R12 and will cost a lot to recharge.

Did you loosen the tensioner and remove the belt? If every fastener is loose then it should break free... try tapping it with a rubber mallet.
