Well, my car is mad quik now, yo!!!

Yep, I'm officially a ricer. I painted my calipers. Red. But hey, it matches my RB springs, which is why I did it. Next, I'm painting my blue shocks red. Why? Just so it matches. I figure if you're gonna do it, do it right. For those of you who want to do this extreme performance mod, it's a $15 kit at your local Wal-mart or Autozone.

Pics to come in a little bit, I'm still cleaning up the rear-end. I will say this though: Freshly painted (black) rear-end, brand new rotors and pads, freshly painted calipers, brand new springs and brand new shocks... Fuck, I may not want to even drive her.

nice choice of color

red = speed

so does any other bright color, actually, but red is the fastest color. "R" is the fastest letter too. :D

blwfly 04-18-06 07:51 PM

wow "my car is mad quik now, yo!!! "

that cracked me up

If you really want to make it quick, you need some decals, preferably in Japanese lettering. To go really fast, put a "Type R" decal on the back. "Decals = Fast".

Also, any yellow accents you can add will give you at least 10 hp. Everyone knows "Yellow = Fast".

I will give you a hint. "Decals = Fast" and "Yellow = Fast", so "Yellow Decals = REALLY FAST"!

Be careful out there.

We all sure jumped on this one!

Here ya go... I used Duplicolor Engine Enamel for the rear-end, the shocks and the swaybar. Low-gloss black for the rear-end, and Ford red for the red parts. The Ford red matches the Racing Beat red almost perfectly, as does the caliper paint.

The next ricer thing I'm going to do is put a DVD monitor in the glove box. I've checked into the local laws, I can have a child seat in the passenger seat since there's no airbags and it's a two seater... I want to be able to roll around with my son, and he likes to watch movies in the car.

My son rides in my 7 to daycare and loves it. The thing is his booster seat looks just like some of the cheap racing seats you see on ebay. When hes not in it I feel kinda ricey when I see people checking it out as I drive by.

trochoid 04-18-06 08:04 PM

Don't forget to paint them thar' rotor hubs, Uncle Ben. Looking good.

LOL yeah, I know exactly which seat you're talking about. I saw that at Target or something and said, "Holy shit, APC makes a baby seat???"

I'm the first person to be turned of by pointless, flashy, or gaudy modifications, but I seriously don't think painted calipers are ricey. It's subtle but noticeable. As far as painting the suspension parts, it's just cool to lift the car up and see all those colored parts, it's like highlights for the various components.

Yeah, I was being a bit sarcastic. I don't think it's ricey at all, actually... And to be totally honest, it's nice to have a bit of color under there, just to break up all the black pieces. My motor will probably be red and black when I have it rebuilt, but the exterior of the car is just gonna be a nice white. No badges, no stickers, no molding, nothing.

Might wanna check out the laws on DVD monitors. Around here, it's illegal to have one in the front seat of a car. I'm not sure if that would apply to a two-seater or not though.

My control arms are blue and the tension rods are red, the rod brackets are blue, along the the Racing Beat sway bars and springs, it's entertaining to lift the car up and look around.

blwfly 04-18-06 09:32 PM

well if its in the glove box they wont see it and if they ask it your wankle computer super rotary technolgy to monitor anything the motor does."scratch dvd off"
and if they ask to turn it on say its unpluged (in process)

that should do it
:)

trochoid 04-18-06 09:42 PM

I sometimes think I should have added some color underneath the widebody, other than the shocks, struts and sways. All black can get old somedays.

It will probably never be "done" LOL. I put up pics of stuff as it gets finished, and usually post "how-to's" on things I've tried that I haven't seen anyone else here do. You can check out my interior transformation in the Archives, and I really need to get my lazy ass back to my bumpers to finish removing the molding.

There's so many things I need to do to it, like I told the last woman I went down on, "Relax, we're gonna be here a while." :D

Yeah... I'm kinda wishing I had ordered the red bushing kit instead of the black... I've been cleaning the undercarriage and putting the underbody coating on it, and yeah, that's flat black. It's tough, because there is a fine line between just enough color and too fucking much color, ya know?

Anex 570 04-18-06 09:48 PM

Personally, I think adding some color help you keep it clean. If it doesnt look good anymore, that would be a good signal to clean it up. Helps you notice a leaky caliper or strut/shock or mabye a dead animal...

trochoid 04-18-06 10:04 PM

When I recieved my bushings, they were the black, I wanted red. The black ones are impregnated with a lube, so they shouldn't squeak, even with the snot lube, like the red ones can.

Paradox 04-18-06 10:05 PM

wicked sick! that red is gonna let you smoke the competition no problem! :D

nice job on the rear, its looking great man.

I've also decided to face the subwoofers to the rear, so that the sound waves can make the car quicker, too. :p:

What's this, boost by sound sound pressure? That's right up there with the bilge pump turbochargers.

Bilge pump turbos? Fuck, where can I get some of those?

Actually, I'm just going to wire my air compressor into the cigarette lighter. 150 psi!!!
