Weird exhaust smell with MMO

I decided to use MMO to premix this tank, and then i started noticing that my exhaust has this very odd smell  The smell is not worth trying to explain. but have you guys ever had a weird smell using MMO????

QuagmireMan 10-19-04 11:52 AM

does it smell like cookies or farts?

Becuase it is one or the other :D

RotaryRyan 10-19-04 01:05 PM

yes, it smels just like cookies and farts, mixed. :rolleyes:NOT!!

Have you taken a good whiff of MMO? It has a distinctly sweet aroma. You'd swear it was a coffee sweetener/flavor.

Does your exhaust have a rich, full bodied aroma like a Starbucks late? :D

MMO smells like those old wax candys that are filled with juice!!

Anyway, what do you expect??? you added MMO to your fuel, and not expect a change in exhaust "scent"

Why are you using MMO for pre-mix anyway??

I have always used TC-W3 marine oil.

lmfao you guys are too much

CarlRx7 10-19-04 07:10 PM

dont use mmo as a premix. use it as a cleaner, 2oz to the tank and your good. you need to add the 2-stroke oil to the gas for premixing.

carl.

hornbm 10-19-04 10:32 PM

MMO works for premixing, 12,000 miles going strong, with nothing but premixing MMO on this motor!

RotaryRyan 10-19-04 11:33 PM

im gonna keep using MMO. I trust hornbm. not trying to be mean. It says on teh bottle that it lubricates.............

Dont reply with a stupid comment please:D

I was just wondering if any others experienced the weird smell. Or if it was something different making my exhaust have this odor. Is that alright with you???

Now go away, or I'll wave a cheese flag at you!!!!

you guys must have a stigma against my reletively low number of posts.

If my old screen name was working I am sure i would not be getting this level of disrespect. I am on here to help, not to be a troll.

IF you are running Pre-mix i suggest you look into the TC-W3.. it is far cheaper and actually designed to be a pre-mix. I have used it in my roadrace, autoX and street rotaries for years.

research the MMO and see if creates a sludge after being burnt a while.

as for a smell from the exhaust, what ratio of MM0 to fuel are you using.

Another idea to get rid of pre-mixing your sump oil is to get an OMP adaptor from rotaryaviation that meters a seperate supply of 2 cycle oil, such as TC-W3... into the engine for proper pre-mix.

Think about it.. wouldn't it make sence to consider an "aviation" component or suggestion than someones off the cuff decision to use MMO? When/If you engine blows, I am much more fond of the idea of it dying on track where i can roll safely to the side, than at 30000 +
feet. (here is a link if anyone would like to see it.) {http://www.rotaryaviation.com/oil_injector_pump_adaptors.htm}

This being said,.... I use MMO too... only occassionally in large doses to clean the inside of the trocoide surfaces... just before replacing sparkplugs

RotaryRyan 10-20-04 06:49 AM

Yeah ive seen those MOP adapters. They look cool. Ive always wanted one, just never bought one.

Oh, and no hard feelings. I dont even have a cheese flag to wave at you:rlaugh:
