Weird Clutch Problems
I been having problems with my clutch losing pedal for about 2 months now. I havent detected any leaks on the master or slave cylinder and neither of them is using any fluid. Most of the time the clutch pedal is right where it needs to be but after the a nice drive on the highway it goes down and I have to pump it up again to get any pedal. After that, its okay. Fluid has been changed twice but it always ends up dark in color after a day or so.

You might need a new master cylinder or slave cylinder.

If neither the master or slave cyl. are leaking, it is possible that the fluid is recirculating in one of them. You can certainly replace them, but I'd try to rebuild them first.

So you don't advocate examining the cylinders to determine if they are likely candidates for rebuilding?
Don't you know the 1st Gen. is the RX7 of cheapskates and poor boys? |
What I do is put in a new MC/SC and save the old ones to do a rebuild when I get time, so they're ready for one of the other cars. Then 2 years later I find them in the bin and toss them out.
