Weight Reduction (a/c removal)
Well I have started to remove the a/c crap. The compressor alone weighs 17lbs  When I get the rest of the stuff out I'll weigh that to and let you know what the total weight of it all is.

dude?.. DUDE!... DUUUDEEEE...haha Are you taking the stuff (cooling coil, blower motor?) out of the passenger footwell also? I junked everything A/C in front of the firewall 3weeks ago and it's so much cleaner... now if I can only afford a nice carb..... a streetported motor....

Well seeing how I'm building a SCCA ITA car yes all that crap goes also. Along with the whole interior, Everything but the dash that is.

I removed everything firewall forward, and it came in at about 16kgs. It's worth it just for the much cleaner engine bay, with the weight saving a handy plus!

48 pounds . that is what the shipping weight was when I sent mine out.

Also with the condensor removed from infront of the radiator you should notice better cooling. (a definited bonus when it over 110 during summer)

I removed everything AC related firewall forward too. I just couldn't believe how much junk was there for the AC alone. I am planning to remove the stuff at the blower motor area, but I will keep the heater just to keep my ass warm in the winter.
How difficult is it to remove the "evaporator" in the passenger compartment or any other related junk? Hope, I don't have to take the whole dash off. |
