weber or Mikuni?

So looking to get me a sidedraft and wanted to know if one was better then the other. Power diffrents or anying.

Paradox 04-04-06 10:11 PM

holley.

trochoid 04-04-06 10:15 PM

Depends on your porting. The Weber can support a full bridge, the Mikuni won't. Mikunis are also harder to find, less support and parts availability.

Holley shmolley, I have 3 of them and prefer the Mikuni any day. Need to get rid of them.

Paradox 04-04-06 10:19 PM

which holleys you trying to get rid of?

trochoid 04-04-06 10:29 PM

465 and 2 650 df/dp. None of them are RB's, though I was lead to believe that from the eBay sellers. I also have 2 RB intake manifolds, both types and an old Jay-Tech that I have yet to figure out which rotary engine it fits. It's a 4-port for a 13B but does not fit an S4 TII nor an SE with 12A irons. The secondary ports on the intake are higher than the blocks I set up for a test fit. Might fit an REW, don't know.

jeff_man 04-04-06 10:40 PM

i have a 79 12A and not getting a holley, i like keeping gas flow in turns :-)

Paradox 04-04-06 10:42 PM

what? 5mpg isnt good enough for you?

Rx-3 maybe? sounds similar ages.
not sure; but thanks for the input man :)

trochoid 04-04-06 10:49 PM

The early 13B 4-port was a concideration, never seen one though.

Paradox 04-04-06 10:52 PM

it really cant be that much diff from other Rx's... what have you compared to?

aussiesmg 04-04-06 11:03 PM

No RX3 came with a 13B.

S4 TII, GSL-SE 13B, S4 NA, Early 13B housings with 12A irons. That's all I have in the shop. I once found a pic that had end irons from almost all of the different versions, the REW ports stood higher than all the rest. Didn't have a 74-78 13B one in the pic though.

Sorry for the thread jack.

Overall, it require lots of mod to fit any intake to an old 4port 13-B. I have done it (thanks to Rob @ rotary shack for the idea). My FB's motor has 12-A plates with SE rotor housing and internal. I got a TII LIM on it. Except due to busy schedule ("my real job" and my garage), I cant find time to finish my TII conversion.

actually, the 76 RX-4 and cosmos came with taller primary runners including a pre-tapped rear plate for oil pressure and reversed intake manifold runners.

I have a Mikuni and a Weber. The weber is a 48 on a SP 12A, has a little bog in the low end and does not want to idle when cold. Plus no choke. It most likely just needs tuned a little.

The mikuni I have not run in years. it was on an Early 13B for a few years and then on a stock 12A. It run well and worked great, But parts for them are getting hard to find.

Nah, we're still playing nice, unfortunately your question got lost in the mean time.

any time a question asking, "Which is best" you will get many opinions, somwewhich can be very adamant. It's like asking which is better, Ford, Chevy or Mopar, everyone has thier own corner.

Now if you were to ask, "Which carb are you running and why do you like better than others", you might get a better response and more pertinent answers. That wording avoids the 'Us vs.Them" cat fight mentality, and we're not fighting,

Holleys are bad news for these cars.

Get a weber. it all comes down to parts availability and sesale value.
