weber float level

I am having a big problem with my carb or something. I have a 48dcoe weber and as I drive around normally not dogging it or anything it spits and sputters and almost dies but only when I have my foot lightly on the gas peddle. Someone once told me about setting the float level but I dont have a clue how to do that. I have got a regulator set at 4psi, a new fuel pump, even have went to a smaller size idle jet and it seems to be worse when I put the smaller jet in there. Anybody know what they think the problem might be or is there any professionals in eastern north carolina that might know how to fix this problem? I am in need of some desperate help with this.

4 PSI !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Try 2.5-3 I bet that stops the sputtering. And put the idle jet back the way it was.

Try it and let us know.

The book calls for fuel pressure between 1.5 to 2.5. I have mine setup to 2.5 psi and is running fine.. when I had it to 3.5 it was runing to rich and was giving me problems.... So this time I follow the Weber Carb book....
