Weber DCOE
 

I am to the point where my weber 45 DCOE runs at near perfection. A nice A/F ratio of 12.5-13.5 across the board in all RPM ranges and about 13.5-14 while cruising with some throttle applied.

Where I am still stinking rich, around 10.5-11.5 is when I am cruising with almost no throttle at all. I have tried all jet combinations and I cannot get this area in a satisfactory range. The minute I give it any more gas it comes back in range and if I let completely off it is good as well.

Will drilling a 3rd progression hole fix this problem? If so what diameter do you drill them at and at what local?

What emulusion tubes are you running' ?

if idle jets and mix screws are optimal , for all other driving situations , besides cruise , i have had the same problems before , related to fuel leaking over / outside the float bowl , due to pressure rising ( cheap regulator ) , and or leaking via accel jets , due to worn - damaged carb .

Well my carb is definately old but it is freshly rebuilt complete with new needle and seat. I set the floats per the manual although I didn't completely understand where you are supposed to set where it contacts the needle. I set it to 7mm?? if I remember right when the needle is completely closed. Wasnt sure if the setting was supposed to be when the floats just start to contact the needle or when it is completely closed.

My FPR is all over the place and I have to reset it almost every time I run. Its the standard holley that most people run. I have a mallory but my return line is too small to attain pressure lower than 9.

I am currently running 11 e-tubes but have tried many. Getting the best results with the 11s.

Its not the jets I am running as I have exhausted ALL combinations.

If there aren't any brilliant ideas I can live with it... but I like perfection :nod:

You may want to consider getting yourself a proper fuel pump like one made by carter. If your having to mess with the FPR all the time, that could be what is causing the problem, if I recall correctly, your fuel pressure on a weber is supposed to be around 3.5-4 psi, someone correct me if I'm wrong. An FPR is also going to choke the flow as well, the pump you need is a high flow low pressure pump.

I have used a holley red, a carter and currently use a mallory comp 70 which I love cause it is soooooo quiet. Fuel pump is not the problem.

I try to maintain a pressure between 2.5 and 3 psi using a re-speed gauge. Although sometimes it mysteriously sets itself to up to 5...?
