Watts link installed wrong?
 

The car is an 82 s with a gsl rear.

The whole rear end is shifted over to the
left.

I went thru and loosened and retorqued
everything, but it made no difference.

Could the watts link be installed wrong?

pics? Your saying the rear end protrudes out to one side and sits recessed on the other?

Yes they can be pit in wrong. Go to WWW.blackdragonauto.com an look up rearend parts and you can see an exploded view of it all together.

How much of a difference are you seeing?

If I recall correctly, it's normal on first gens for the rear to be off by about a quarter inch... There was a thread about it here, maybe a year ago.

You also want to do your final tightening with the car's weight on the wheels & level, suspension loaded up.

Depends on your definition of "normal" versus "correct," I guess, heh. :)

If it comes from the factory that way, then it's for-sure "normal." And as far as the guys who built it were concerned, it was also "correct." Even if it 's not "desirable" or "optimal."

Yeah, I remember that one, mines off to the
other side from everyone else

and I did loosen every thing up ( some was hand tight!)
and retorque with it loaded, made no difference

no matter how low you go you should be able to get it centered. just takes getting the car fully settled under full weight with everything less than finger tight. Then you can snug everything up.

my car is slammed on RE-Speed coils and the axle is centered. The watts mounts are also known for bending under lots of stress, not only on the axel, but the chassis mounts as well. Check that out.

update!

pics are before...

i removed the watts link completely, loosened all of the other suspension bolts, retightened the rest of the suspension.

with the watts link OUT its basically centered.

when i try to put the watts link back in, the lower link bolt to the body will drop right in, but the upper link bolt is off, unless you push the axle to the left...

i should take a pic of this too, but does the watts link pivot bracket have both studs in the same plane? mine doesn't quite, wondering if its bent
