These came with my rebuild kit. Can anyone tell me where they go?

They go over the water pump studs that that gasket doesn't cover. They are used so that when tightening down the wp, it doesn't crack it.

I cracked the bolt holes for the thermostat on the water pump housings. Luckily, I scored a water pump housing.

But out of curiosity , how could I have repaired the cracked housing's bolt holes?????? !!!!

With a TIG and a skilled hand. ;)

Cast iron can be welded. I thought you had an aluminum housing. Cast iron can be welded with a stick welder and a bucket of sand. Heat the cast piece in the bucket of sand. Do your welding and then burry it back in the hot sand. Its critical to let the metal slowly change temperatures; if not it will crack. You could TIG it but stick works.

I don't weld cast personally, but Ive had a few cast things welded by professionals.
EDIT: did you crack the iron endplate or the W/P housing?

I use to weld over the summers to pay for college. My welding got better just in time to go back to school. I had great hand writing thanks to welding. Now it sucks.
