want to rhd my 85 gs

Is it possible to rhd my 85 gs. I know the Savannah came rhd

AcidAngel7477 02-24-10 11:19 PM

it is possible..but you would have to source all the rhd part's and do a little sacrificing of the stiffness of the chassy..plus the labor is going to be a bitch. i would try and locate a actual rhd. but even that is going to be a bitch, i wanted one for awhile so i know what you mean.

:AA:

Maybe you should try looking for a Japanese car auction site. Even with the trouble of importing, converting and all the different fees and taxes you have to pay, it probably will be a lot less hassle then trying to locate everything piece by piece.

EPA gives it an all clear if the cars after 25 years old, consider it a collector car. so you shouldn't have to convert anything if you import one, just pay shipping and yada yada yada

Keeble is correct anything older than 25 years old is considered a collectors car...so the coast is clear for that...Plus having and owning a real rhd is alot more thrilling then converting one and piecing the shit together like it was mentioned above

Jmthegerm66 02-25-10 02:22 AM

Okay cool cool I look on to doing that

mazdaverx713b 02-25-10 09:59 AM

you can RHD your 85 but you will have to use an S2 dash and wiring harness because the S3 dash was never produced in RHD.

Jmthegerm66 02-25-10 11:49 AM

oh darn i like my s3 dash but if thats the sacrafice i have to do ill do it

i guess he would rather spend 3x's the monies and piece it together then just buy one hahahaha...good luck with this...

Jmthegerm66 02-26-10 12:48 PM

the whole reason i want to is first the rarity of the fb in wasington seattle area ive only seen like maybe five, second is the rarity of a rhd is very high. now to have on of thoes five+rhd it would be amazing

This is a really bad idea.

In the summer of 1967, I went to Goteborg, Sweden to take delivery of a new Volvo. Up until that time the Swedes had built left-hand drive cars, even though they were driving on the left. When we arrived there, all the traffic lights in Stockholm and other cities were shut down in preparation for the change over later that summer to driving on the right side of the road. It was chaotic, but it slowed everyone down and made them pay attention. The change took place a few weeks after we left.

We had a chance to tour Sweden for about a week in our new car, driving on the left with left hand drive. It was not too much of a problem in the city, but out on the highway it was VERY DANGEROUS to pass another car, because you are almost fully into the oncoming lane before you can see around the car you are passing. Passing a large truck under these conditions on a two lane road is just playing Russian Roulette.

This is a really bad idea. Find some other way to waste your time and money.

there are tons of different and better ways to spend money on your car.... have you ever driven a rhd? if you have not and your car is a manual, you will NOT like it

jshiz 02-27-10 11:30 AM

I think he wants the m@d JDM effect. especially if that's his car in his avatar...

I recently saw an FD in the Covington area. Bright red. Damn it was nice to actually see an RX7 roaming around.
