want to get your guys opinion on expected 1/4 miles time

friday night im going to be driving my friends 1st gen for him and my other friends mazdaspeed protege and maybe a BUILT GSX eclipse. im wanting to know what time i should expect with the 7. here are the mods to the best of my knowledge:

around 90-100 compression both rotors
no emissions
RB lightened flywheel
RB spark plug wires
RB full exhaust
webber side draft carb
stock wheels and tire size
stock 3.93 gears with drum rearend
clutch from RB, not sure which one

this is all i bleieve but im not sure, anything wouldnt be major. id like to think i can drive decently, i made an exfriends 2000 prelude hit a 15.3 with nothing but an intake. i dont know if thats good, but thats some info to go along with it. cause 5th gear said theyre supposed to hit 15.4 stock, which i never raced it stock but im sure i wouldnt be able to hit that with it. thanks guys

12A? 16.0 at 88 mph

dbragg 09-21-05 11:15 PM

haha man, you got precise didnt you. yes, 12a. why do you say that time? personal experience or just a guess? i trust your judgement a lot so ill expect around that time.

jays83gsl 09-21-05 11:34 PM

Is it ported? My streetport, RB head to tip, Goodyear sporty tires, Koni, Yaw powered, ported intaked (or something like that) emissions removed, 2200 lbs (or so) 12 A gets mid-15s.

By THEORY, you should be in the low fifteens if you're ported. If you're not, then those exhaust and intake mods don't really mean that much ;), so you'll be in the 16's like the freak said.

mperformance 09-22-05 02:42 AM

I also say 16s on the dot because it's not ported and has the stock rear end...

I run 15flat to 15.3 consistently (12A) and I got mine very mildly ported w/weber 45DCOE and in 2100lbs and 4.44 lsd that's with not so good 0-60'

dbragg 09-22-05 03:38 PM

its stock ported. ill expect somewhere in the low 16's

FB II 09-22-05 08:22 PM

i'm gonna say high 15's if you can drive good.

Yeah tires are gonna be key here. My car at the line typically goes like this: spin spin spin, shift, spin spin spin shift, chiirrrp and then finally get to run the rest of the track and that gets 15.8 e.t. I'm sure some good tires would knock that down alot.

RustyRotary 09-22-05 08:55 PM

Like Rotor said, traction makes a huge difference. When my 12a was stockport with RB full exhaust and Mikuni carb, it would spin the tires in the first two gears with brand new 185 tires. I couldn't get good runs because I had the stock fuel pump, so I don't know what kind of times it would have made.

dbragg 09-22-05 10:34 PM

ill tell him to upgrade to a holley fuel pump or something. ive raced the car before. first he drove it and couldnt be one of our other friends and then i drove it and killed him. i didnt spin bad at all really

FB II 09-22-05 11:22 PM

here's how i do it... i like to "load the suspension". get at the light (try to be first to stage) and stage up, hold the e-brake up some with the button always pressed. get your rpm's where you want them (i like 4500) and let the clutch out ever so slightly so it starts to barely catch. this should make the rear squat a tad... then when you let out, it shouldn't spin neaaarly as much. mine usually just dips out. :D

How fast does your 12a turbo run? Is it the jdm fuel injected one, or a drawthrough system? I was trying to get a 12at from Corksport, but I've given up on them after they told me they'd call me 8 times and never did.

a13btrx7@hotmail.com 09-23-05 03:36 AM

doesnt 12a streetport ,full exhuast system, webber carb get around 170-180 hp , with those upgrades shouldnt the fb net low 14's at least ? just comparing stats w/ the lotus elise . the lotus has 190 hp, about 2000 lbs , mid engine and is a pist-on and its hitting 13 flat- mid 13's. alot of people are in the 15s with a basiclly built street ported 12a. just wondering why the fb cannot match up with the elise is it because of traction, gear ratio, weight?

Jon_Valjean 09-23-05 03:43 AM

16-something.

BlastinSideways12A 09-23-05 01:21 PM

*If* you can get it to hook up with the open diff and if your Weber is setup properly you should be into the 15s in decent weather and if the altitude isn't too high.

dbragg 09-23-05 03:31 PM

i dont know if the weber is tuned correctly and i dont know hoe to myself. i didnt have a problem with it spinning before. well we are heading down there about 6 tonight and i should get around 11. ill let you guys know what it does. thanks for all the input.

FB II 09-24-05 12:15 AM

how did it do? :D

I forgot to mention our dragstrip is about 6500ft above sea level, lol.

dbragg 09-24-05 04:43 PM

sorry i didnt post last night. i left the track and went to hangout with a lady friend. i didnt get home till 2:30am an di had to be at work at 7am so i went straight to bed. i should actually be asleep right now cause im going back in at 11pm and getting off at 730am and then cleaning up, going to church with my friend, and then going back to his house to design a front lip for his girlfriends car.....man, for some reason i dont think im going to make it through all of this;) oh well. well i did three runs and here are the results:

1st run-
died at the line, started it back up and ran a 19 something

2nd run-

R/T.....357
60'......2.458
330.....6.632
1/8......10.114
MPH......70.78
1000......13.086
1/4........15.622
MPH........89.65

man was i amazed when i saw that 15.6 pop up

3rd run-

R/T......382
60'.....2.468
330.....6.556
1/8......9.956
MPH.....72.12
1000.....12.880
1/4........15.351
MPH.......90.91

i freaked when i saw this. i was HOPING to hit a high 15 and then when i hit that low in the 15's i was very very pleased. much thanks to FBII. i loaded the suspension as you said in all the runs but the first one.

i dont know why it died on the first run, but the owner said he could never floor it or itd die, but it did all the other runs. he had El' Cheapo tires on it so it burnt most of the way through first and some in 2nd. not bad, i mean it took off and burnt at the same time.

the 2nd and 3rd runs i grudge my friends mazdaspeed protege and beat him both times by .1 of a second. he wanted me to drive his car in the 1/4 but the gates were closed when i got there, but theres always next time.

i think it wouldnt be too hard to get the car into the 14's. i have a GSLSE 3rd member i told him he needs to put in his car and he wants to upgrade the fuel pump and get a fuel pressure regulator. i told him to get some better tires. i have some Toyo proxes a-1, but they dont have much tread so i dont know if theyd help or make it worse, i assume make it worse, unless they are that much softer. is there anything i am forgetting he should do?

on another note, i saw an FB with nothing but an apex catback and a mom racing seat run a 16.8. and a toyota wagon with a 13b run the low 12's(that thing is FIERCE)

just a bit of info on the guys i went with. here ar ethe cars my friends raced and their best times.

2000(?) camero SS with a catback- 14.0 (he needs to practice his driving some i think)
mazdaspeed protege with an weapon R secret weapon intake- 15.5 (also needs to practice)
97 or so GSX eclipse with MANY mods pushing around 20 lbs of boost- 14.5 (DEFINATELY needs to practice) i tried to pay him to let me drive but he wouldnt let me, i was just messing with him though, hes actually getting a lot better
2003 F250 turbo diesel with power programer and 200 shot- 13.5(that thing is insane, we had it up to around 160 the other night, talk about crazy..wow)

well thanks to everyone for their input and i hope youre as pleasantly suprised with the results as i am.

a13btrx7@hotmail.com 09-25-05 12:20 PM

im glad u are happy w/ ur times

FB II 09-25-05 01:40 PM

i told you bro!!!!! i know these cars are capable of more than what most think. it's all in how you get it down the track. like you said yourself, he needs better tires for sure. if you get that 60ft down i definately see a 15 flat or even a high 14. nice job buddy! :D

dbragg 09-25-05 05:16 PM

i talked to him yesterday and we dicusssed some ideas to get it into the 14s. we are going to try the toyos, fuel pump and fuel pressure regulator and after a while he might buy my SE 3rd member from me. with all of these i think i could easily break into the 14s

Garbageman 09-25-05 10:57 PM

Now don't you wish you bought that car before me hahahahahah
