Vacuum diagram after 12a rats nest removal
Started on the rats nest removal today going by the RX7Carl tutorial, and I am just a wee bit confused with some things. All i need is a diagram or picture of someones 12a post-rats nest removal. Thanks a bunch.

um if you don't know what it does you should leave it alone or put it back the way it was.
the hoses you end up with depend on what functions you want to keep from the old vacuum rack. the things you keep just stay exactly the same as stock, but you just have to run your own hoses instead of having the simple rack. so you need to look at the solenoids on your rack, do you want to keep the vacuum advance? a/c idle up? the air control valve? (switching and relief). the purge valve? its much less work to just leave it alone, and maybe cap off the shutter/coasting valve when it fails. |
well it's all up and running good with the rats nest removed, but i have a vacuum leak i suspect because it has a hesitation when i put my foot to the floor at idle.

Here's the 5 min in MS paint Diagram of how I have mine.

why does the RX7Carl tutorial say to re-use the white solenoid? I hooked it up like it was shown in his tutorial, but it doesn't really say why it is needed to be hooked up.

Or you can do what I did. Remove everything, plug everything, run one vacuum line from the dizzy advance to the nipple farthest forward on the base of the carb. :)

I did nothing for venting the crankcase. I get a wee bit of lungmustard under the cap, but I figure as long as I change the oil on a regular basis (which I do) it shouldn't be much of an issue.
I removed the shutter valve, but kept the shaft. The only reason I can think of for not cutting the plugs off would be if you ever wanted to re-install the emissions, of for class restrictions if you ever wanted to autocross or something. |
the only issue i have is i don't know where to connect my cruse control vacuum lines... still debating on connecting the crank case vent. (have a racing beat Holley), runs great so far aside from the repairs due to neglect the owners before me has put it thru.
