Vacuum Caps...Where do you get them?
 

I was looking at my rats nest, and thinking about taking it out to clean some stuff up eventually, and for fun I was looking at the vacuum caps I would need at the auto store. They wanted like $5 for 5 in a pack of one size, and I think I need more than one size...I think thats a bit high. Where did you guys get yours? I want to find yellow if possible too...I know, "rice" you say, but Im trying to do the small stuff in yellow, detail type stuff. So when people look down in there they can say "oh look, he even did this in yellow" type stuff. I consider it the "street rodder" in me, not the "ricer" :D.

I say detail is very inportant, new shiney bolts, hose clamps, wire looms, and color matching, just don't go overboard on the colors! And chrome don't get you home! I always liked that saying! Oh yeah, I would only suggest a mechanical supply company, or auto parts store, unless you can find some online.

Not rice, but nice TJ. Can't help on the colored caps though. You got a plan for your emissions removal?

I found my vaccuum caps, in yellow (that was the only color for the size they had), at checker auto parts.

If anyone knows where I can pick them up in blue that would be great, seeing as how the only ones in blue came in the next size up

JC Whitney has a package of many sized caps for under $10.

Exactly...I have all new hose clamps, cleaned bolts (whenever possible), clened parts (whenever possible), now im going for some more color in there. Im adding colored wire loom soon enough (as soon as it get here), and then the vacuum caps. It should look nice without too much under there...I hope :).

Interesting...I dont believe I have ever seen such a thing, at least I dont remember, or I didnt know what it was if i did...I bet I could find em though, hardware stores are my best friends :).

I just had a thought...Anyone ever thought of trying to make your own? Like with that rubber coating stuff you buy for screwdriver handles and stuff? You can get it in TONS of colors...All you would need would be something you could use as mold...Dip it in, pull it out, let it dry pull it off. Instant vacuum cap, and cheap too. Imgaine how many you could make with a good size can :D

It could...If you were careful, lol. The stuff is meant to withstand chemicals to an extent, I dont know about heat though...

Felix, I looked all over the place. The only think I could find where screw caps, which are to cover flush-mounted type screws, and as for caps - the only onws I found are the ones for wire closet shelving.

A couple of weeks ago I called the Plasti-Dip company and asked how their product holds up against gasoline, oil, etc. They said "not very well" and that anything petroleum based will soften the material. I thought it should hold up since it can be used on tools and such. I don't think vacuum caps would be a good idea after all.
