Hi All,

I need to leave at 5:30 am for a car control clinic and autoX for the first time , and I just changed the fuel filter, but found out both ends of the rear sway bar are disconnected, Am I in trouble? Why they are off? How should I connect them back?

Also can I dump in three bottle of 20/50 and one bottle of 10/40 together in my engine? That's all I have now.

While I have no track time at the autoX, it is my understanding that at the disconection of the rear sway helps the geometry in AutoX type driving.

like richard miller, I have no autoX experience, I agree with him that the lack of a rear sway bar is in fact a GOOD thing for traction control. As far as the 20/50 & 10/40 I'm not sure if it's a good idea to mix oils... this seems like a question that can be googled tho since you need an answer quick. good luck!

Yeah I took mine off and the back sticks much better (on low profile tyres here 205/40/17).. where it would lose grip fairly easy before

 

i'm not gona bother asking why it works better with the bar disconnected...I always thought that was a strip only trick...

while we are on the subject can someone point me in the direction of the most recent synthetic oil vs conventional oil debate? and oil weight while we are at it.

I just got back, The day was soooooooooooooo Awesome, very educational. It was hell of a day. oh, I had chance to play with M3 and my friend's 2004 STI, man, the STI moves like cazy. All instructors (about 20 of them) took their car out at the end of the day let us ride with them one by one on the track, M5s M3s .... Porches... (four wheel drift though corners with a Porche just by playing with the throttle). One instructor took my car out and showed me how a FB take corners although mine is made up with 20 year old stock parts.

 

Oh, we recorded some videos, I will post them as soon as we get them organized

 

Sweet as Looking forward to those vids ! How was it when the instructor took your car thru the corners?

 

It was all about RWD, the instructor showed me to turn the car with my rear wheel and throttle along with appropriate lines, it wasn't drift, but I am sure it wasn't a line that our normal driving would permit

I especially liked the way the Porche (didn't remember model) handled the track, it glided through cornors while feels like it was rotating along its central axis with a very confident feeling.
