I would guess that if he's smart, he would use the body as it sitws to make a mold, and then cast the whole thing outa FRP, that would get rid of cracking issues of putty..... but then I am probably wrong.

your 100% correct. thats by far the most efficient and smartest way to replicate this kit.

I agree from the side it looks like a 350z but it still looks good.

I bet you gained about 400 lbs with all that shaveing and pileing?

warwickben 08-06-07 03:31 PM

if i could get this kit to work for my sa i would so buy it but then again us sa guys dont really have to many options.

JIMMY54 08-06-07 11:02 PM

Looks great! Much better than a lot of the body kits I've seen over the years on first gen RX-7s :icon_tup:

Sevenstock is less than 2 months away. Your car would surely win something there. Hopefully you can make it out there!

I've actually searched to see how much work you had done since last time I checked but the stupid search function didn't turn any result. Anyway nice job, can't wait to see the final result.

dude do you have a job?? must be alota man hours into this one..

as allways its looking good still want to see it next to a fd to see the length diffrence

verrt 08-07-07 12:44 PM

very cool

That looks really good, nice job. I've been talking to my mechanic about doing someting similar, using the parts from my wrecked '93, putting into an 84 shell. (The 93's engine and suspension are fine, it's mostly just the body thats f***) Did you mount the FD rear suspension cradle to the FB chassis, graft in the FD rear, or make a custom subframe?

We are leaning towards a combination of using the FB chassis with subframe reinforcements in the rear. The front end would use the standard rear engine mounts, but still deciding on how to install the steering and suspension (I searched and found info about installing FC front suspension/steering but nothing about FD, weird). I guess there are many ways to skin a cat, but wondered what you did. Or do you mind sharing that info? Anyhow looks good thanks for the inspiration.

Why not just keep it sleek with no mirrors? Youll save money too :icon_tup:
