update on the custom IDF manifolds
 

Okay, the welder decided to put up our first intake on ebay. It looks better than the previous ones. We would really like to get some dyno runs in, but the nearest one is 2 hours away and expensive. When we get some different carb setups together we will go buy a couple hours of dyno time, but that's a few weels away at the earliest.

We're going to be putting together a really good dual IDF manifold setup together soon for ported engines. I expect really good results with it, too.

It's look'n better! What's the advantage of using an Weber IDF over an IDA?

Definitely looks much better than the first one we saw! If you build 2 or 3 more you'll have it down really good. I like the gradual bends. The sharper bends in the other manifolds do not help power any.

I thought there are dynos in Bowling Green. At one point, there was a dyno in Madisonville. I'll have to check and see if it is still here.

there is an engine dyno in owensboro, it's something like 800 per day, and we could build one just about as good, may not be as accurate or calibrated, but would be a good reference.

another project to add to the mile-long list.

I'm talking about rear wheel dyno. I heard there was one down there, but I don't know the name of the shop. Who is it?
I dunno about making our own dyno. I just want an engine cradle to break in engines with, personally.

IDF vs IDA: Well, basically, IDF is the streetable version of the IDA. It has a choke circuit and better progression circuit, so off throttle response is better, however it comes at a cost of CFM, but from what I understand it is a negligable loss. We also decided to go with an IDF style because no one else makes this style manifold and the carbs are much cheaper than their IDA counterparts.

The motor flange is scratched up.

Where the carb mounts, the two ports gas flow down are not exactly round, there must be a reason for doing that.

Are you guys using a 220volt welder?

If you can make a manifold for a 48 Dellorto DHLA where the carb sits ontop of the engine with nice, long gradual bends like on the ebay manifold, I might have some money for you. I HATE the RB one, two very sharp bends; and the other one has tight bends.

The motor flange looks scratched because it was sanded down on a belt sander so it would be a flush mount to the gasket. Same with the carb flange.
It's very smooth, I assure you. :)

rotaryshack does sell the rb intake manifold and the one pictured below. both have tight bends; i'm looking for a wrap around manifold like the one below but with longer, more gradual bends.

if someone made a manifold with 4 injector bungs and came out to mustang throttle body style mounting plate i bet many folks would be happy. well one that doesnt cost a fortune anyways
beats the alternative of spendin 100-200 bucks on a manifold and then 350+ for a weber or holley efi throttle body setup and have it look nice and rigged and goofy
maybe someone could make a low price surge tank type of deal that bolted to ida manifolds in place of a weber efi tb setup, and had a mustang tb flange, then we'd just have to get injector bungs put in on our own.
