Unbelievable Ebay Scammer! Warning!
Long story long....My buddy is looking for a seven, and I find a real deal on an '94 twin turbo w/32K on it. Absolutely mint!
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...&category=6327 Only 7G's for a twin turbo w/32k on it!!! Too good to be true? Well, we decide to check pricing for comparisons and go to autotrader.com to look at other 94TT's and what they're going for, and we find the same car (vin matches). Only here its listed for 25,900.00. http://autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?ca...r=&cardist=513 Well, this add includes a phone number, which we use to see if we can get the car for the $7,000.00 buy-it-now price. Well, guess what? This lady is shocked to hear that her car is listed on Ebay! In fact, she has never even used Ebay before! And, she said she would never let the car go that cheap. In the mean time, this fraudulent SOB responds to an email we had sent through ebay with this long story about how the car is in France, and it will be shipped with all the paperwork (at his expense) once the money order is received. I can't believe the nerve of this asshole! He obviously just copied the add from Autotrader.com (even the photos were reused) and posted an add on Ebay for a car he doesn't even own! BUYERS BEWARE!!! |
definately shaddy. Ebay should be notified of this user. All his feedback is from sellers, no buyer feedback. very suspicious activity.

"Hey thats my car, what the fuck do you think your doing? (link to autotrader) I will be seeing you this weeked. (ebay user info request)" *snicker snicker* |
I think we should move this to the lounge and let the dogs loose on him. :D All you have to do is give the word and he'll have 300 people sending him messages through e-bay that say, "The rx7 club knows about you" hahaaha. If you ask me he deserves it, for trying to rip people off and sell someone else's car. What an absolute ass....

Way to go guys! Just like an old fashioned lynching party! I still can't believe it though, we were ready to drive down there last night and show up with cash in hand this morning. Oh well, sounds too good to be true then it probably is! :)

That guy sucks rex balls. I got ripped off on ebay once. I bought a R/C car for 200 and somethin bucks. Never got it :mad:

This scam has been going on a long time,...many different FD's, same autotrader ad tie in,...I guess if just one person sends money the guy is ahead.
Ebay has deleted previous auctions like this apperantly,...sounds blatently fraudualent,...why is it still going on?. I got burned on ebay recently in regards to car parts,...by a repeat offender. No help from ebay whatsoever(well, actually they sent me some nicely worded,automatically generated emails?!) IMO ebay is in danger of screwing up a good thing by letting scammers get away with this crap. |
I got scammed by a guy in San Bernardino CA for $170. Worst part is he is a rotary guy (RX-4). Ebay was no help at all. Anyone want to kick his ass for me?

Alerting him that you're "on to him" is the worst thing you could've done, guys! He went from having a smigeon of a chance of getting caught, to ZERO chance of getting caught.
This is a scam that has been going on nearly as long as the web has been around. These people are not pesky flies that need to be swatted away by telling them you know they're scammers, they are people that need to be caught and shot. We can't shoot them when they're caught, but we can help catch them. Always report fraud. The more it's reported, the more attention it gets, and the better the chance of a crack-down on these bastards. -That's just my wooden $0.05. |
yeah there was a mint supra twin turbo on there for 100 bucks...and in georgia...i had already got directions and everything..was gona drive and go get it (it was WAY WAY WAY to good to be true so i figured id go see it atleast) but the guy was all like (its in storage and ill be working all day so i cant get it out. next day it was off ebay...

Alright, these are the emails I got from them (it's actually kinda funny).
First Email: S.C. Shiffters-Cars E-V S.A. Hello.. We are very pleased about the interest that you had shown in our car.. Shiffters-Cars is a english-american dealing company.. Our line of work is the cars that have US papers and title and are located in England. This car is located in England-London and has US papers and title. The owner want`s to sell it to US because to register any car that has US title and papers is too expensive in England + the car has left steer-wheel and in England is on right so here it has no real value. We sell and shipp this car only in US because is the choice of the actual owner and the car is allready registered in US. The shipping and the payment process should be like this: The buyer (you) must pay the shipping cost that is included in the total cost ($1500) US dollars and after he recive the car within 2 days (Lufthansa Air Cargo) and after he signs the owenership forms he must pay the balance within 75 days. The car has clean title and if its not like the pappers says we will refund all the money (the shipping cost) and we`ll pay back the returning cost. Something I've noticed and Just a heads up to everyone... 9 times out of 10 if someone is going to rip you off on a large purchase like this they ask for Western Union. A UPS man that came into my work last summer was telling me about how he was buying a custom motorcycle through ebay. He made a down payment of about $2000 on the bike and the seller told him that the bike would be shipped. The bike was purchased from a "foreign country" much like these auctions in this thread. The bike never showed up and the "seller" ripped the guy off of his 2 grand down payment. The UPS guy was obviously pretty ticked off and bent out of shape about it like anyone would be. He tried to get his money back through ebay and western union but neither one of them would cover him.
I think lots of scammers like this prefer western union because it is easy to get large amounts of money, and probably easy to use fake identities as well. You tell them the name to send the money to and you can go claim it practically anywhere. Then when you waltz in and tell the clerk your name and the amount of money it looks like you are legitimate even though you made up your own fake alias to receive the money with. :/ I think western union is pretty shitty overall and I am very wary of anyone using it after meeting that UPS guy that got ripped a new one. Be careful with your ebay purchases fellow Rx'ers. :D |
I don't have the original email that he returned to my buddy, but what I got second hand is this:
"I brought the car to France with me, but then found out that it would be too expensive to convert over to meet emissions here. It is a really nice car, but I can't drive it now so I'm selling it. Once I receive the money order (for full payment) I will ship the car and all paperwork to you at my expense". Yeah, right! So this guy wants the cash in hand and then he'll send you the car! I wonder how often this type of scam actually works? I thought about trying to report the fraud without tipping him off, but was not sure who to report it to. I searched all over Ebay for some way to report it directly to them, but couldn't find anything helpful. Since this was involving more than one state, who should have been contacted? This A-hole should be strung up from the nearest tree with a really scratchy rope! Maybe convert his genitalia to a small hood ornament? |
