Two questions. Rubbing Noise & Car "Underbelly"/Chassis steamcleaning

Ok guys just a few quick questions:

1) Lately my car has had some weird rubbing noise when I brake. It's very irregular, and will often go away for a few days and come back again when I least expect it. Before you all say about my 4 discs, my pads and rotors, I have replaced all 8 pads recently, all discs checked out ok, and everything looked/seemed fine. This problem still hasn't gone away.

It kinda sounds/feels like it's something directly underneath the engine.... like, maybe something to do with the steering arm?

The noise is kinda like a metal scrap noise, though not the high pitched kind, more like a deep, old metal noise. I'm putting the car up tonight on ramps to check everything... maybe some grease can help? keep in mind it's only when I brake and the noise isn't from my wheels.

2) Anyone consistantly clean/steam clean the underside of their rx? I was just wondering what they did, how the results were, and how much did it cost ($US or $Aus) to do.... I was thinking of getting mine done since I thought it was overdue.... so any thoughts on that?

And lastly, I'm going to take some more snaps of my rx inside and outside before I take it to get a full body respray (this weekend) so you guys can see the before and after shots.

Happy driving!

To steam clean my engine bay, it'll cost me $50 for the guys at the car wash detailing place to spray it.

As for the steering, check your idler arm bushings. An easy way to tell if they're broken or worn is to reach down on the passenger side and push/pull on it. If it moves, you've got a problem ;)
