Turn Signal and Hazard Light Incidator problems
question emailed to me .... maybe one of you FB gurus can comment...
Thanks I have a Mazda Rx-7 1983, my turn signal and hazard light indicator doesn't work anymore. I checked the fuse and it's fine. Please tell me where I can find the Flasher Unit, and where it located. I called around to many dealers, and they are giving me different answer, like the flasher is in the CPU, or under the Dash board on the left side . I looked and nothing...I don't even have a part number or a shape or size of it. |

I have a similar issue on one of my GSL-SEs, but I haven't bothered to troubleshoot it yet. Just the hazard lights don't work and the fuse is fine.
There was a 'flasher module' on sale on eBay, so I was speculating that might be it, but I never bid on it. |
Do a search for this info. We reviewed this last month or so. There's a small silver box of some sort way up under the dash. It's a collection of relays ganged together I guess. Used items from the scrap yard have been recommeded. Seems Mazda figured if they used relays instead of a flasher it wouldn't burn out until the cars were old and in the hands of RX-7 junkies who would do anything to fix their cars.

The flasher unit is located under the drivers side dash. It's a largish black box mounted on a metal plate with a big 18 pin plug going to it. |
ahhh... dissention among the ranks.. so there might be more than one choice ehy?

You'll find the flasher unit on the far left (driver's side) by the large control unit (has a metal case with a lot of wires going into it- fastened to the left side wall)
The colour of wires that you're looking for are green with a white strip; green with a black stripe and a solid black wire. If you need the part number, let me know and I'll dig out my disk with the part numbers on it. Let me know how it turns out. |
