Turbonator ?!?!?!?

I was looking some mods for my rx7 on google and found this site about turonators...It says you will get 35 hp :) and save 31% on gas mileage :bigthumb: ...I was just wondering....anyone use this on your rx7 or not...or on any car for that matter. for 70 dollars and 35hp gain and save fuel it sounds too good to be true....Let me know if you or someone you know has used one....and if you are curious about the product here is the web site....

Thanks guys

i saw something like that on a commercial program....

in my opinion, it seems like a good idea, but UP TO 35 mph probably equals 1 HP. lol haha

i wouldn't bother

IanS 11-27-04 11:37 PM

Yeah most likely not worth it. You would have to fab up something to make it work on a 7 anyways.

Youngblood84 11-27-04 11:40 PM

i figured so both have either of you tried to use it on a 7?

RotorMotorDriver 11-27-04 11:55 PM

I saw something like that tested on TV once, and it only added like 7 HP to the vehicle it was on. I was surprised it was that much, as were they. It was one of those "do they really work" type shows. BTW...

An emissions lab, licensed by the EPA conducted tests on vortex generators that produced results as high as 20 horsepower and 24% increases in mileage. Other independently conducted studies yielded results as high as 35 HP and 31% MPG. Twenty and 35 HP boosts are not typical. Your results with the Turbonator will probably, but not necessarily, be less. Just keep this in mind.

EDIT: Go read some of those testimonials, theyre great for a laugh! I wish I could run a 15.8 with only 47 horsepower!

"In a completely stock 99' Dodge Neon sport, I gained ten horses and went from 34-37 wheel horsepower to 44-47 wheel horsepower (using a G-Tech Pro performance meter). I have also noted (when I drive responsibly) a gain in gas mileage. I also lost a full second off my Quarter-mile times; from 16.8 to 15.8 and probably could have done better with more time with the G-Tech."

there's another product out there but it's called the tornado I think....Besides, I don't see how that could be placed in the center of our air filter and be effective.....You might as well get and electric fan, tape it to your filter and turn in on, forced induction...shit, I'm gonna start an infomercial...I almost bought something like this but have always wnated to see the proof first(ex.Dyno, slips).

Don't believe this shit. At all. "Non-moving"..."better flame propagation"...

Pure Horseshit I tell you !!!

IanS 11-28-04 06:24 AM

What it does is it makes the incoming air more turbulent. This is all fine and dandy and I am sure it would work. However, being as most of our 7s are carbs it would not work unless we fabbed a 4 inch round tube to the end (or somewhere near it) of the stock airbox. It would be cheaper and most likely more efficient to simple buy the power pulse intake from racing beat.

truer words.....

have never been spoken, to good to be true is just that, its sounds like somebody is fishing to catch people who have just a little background (IE: enough to cause themselves problems) it would be a wste of your money IMHO but whatever floats your boat.

according to the site, it says it would still be just a drop in part for our car....but someone claiming those numbers makes it way too good to be true...Those numbers are more than what they say a full RB system would give you, lol....Or else you'd see everyone here buying that thing.....I wish it was true, but then I just <sigh> close the page, lol....

It used to be called the Vornado or the Vortex or Tornado... Or something...

Here, put this pile of shit in your car... The methane fumes will enhance the fuel mixture in your engine and it'll go faster! Honest!

autopaul 11-28-04 02:47 PM

i want to put a leaf blower in my intake connected to a full throtle switch, one of those electric ones set up with a power invertor, that would be fun!!

autopaul 11-28-04 02:48 PM

saw it on a chevette once...

That's just because we so tight on this forum... we ALL got our shit running fast on a daily basis. Hey, ever wonder why there's not alot of threads like:

"Help !!! What can I do to my FB to spank an FC ???" or in the "kills" section:
"I put a notch on my rear bumper skin everytime I shit all over an FC. Then a cop pulled me over to tell me my bumper skin fell off"

Know what I mean ? :rlaugh:

nick1 11-28-04 09:40 PM

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAH

DAVID GRIMES 11-29-04 11:20 AM

Like that, do ya ? Every time I see a stock FC, at first I think it's a Ford Probe or some shit.
