turbo'd 6 port with megasquirt or streetport with a weber?
I know that this has been covered before in some form but I'm bored and doing some thinking on the future of my SE. What kind of life can be expected from a turbo'd 6 port? I know that there has been a lot of people that have done it but I have never heard they perform over a length of time. The synros in my trans are going so i'm going to a T2 trans anyway (might as well) and I've been trying to decide whether I should do a nasty streetport with a weber or a megasquirt and t2 manifolds. What do you guys think? there is a video on you tube of a SE at 5psi pulling like 240 whp! thats sounds like fun but I've never heard how there fair over time with a good tune.

well Joshua. after owning a weber'd na rotary, a efi na rotary, and a turbo weber'd rotary. I'd say you should first change your avatar, then I'd suggest a turbo 6 port with the megasquirt.
If you are building the 13B from scratch, ditch the 6 port end irons and build a 4 port with 12A irons. Then you can do whatever you want. Working 6 ports on an NA will give you the best lowend torque, but aren't the best choice for turboing.
I guess really my question is what have people had with higher compression rotaries and low boost (5-10psi) and lifespan? I've read about people that done 6 port turbos, but never heard how they fare
Good question. My SA is powered by a 6-port with S5 turbo setup, and front mount intercooler, with MegaSquirt for fuel and spark control. I'm running about 8 psi max, but it's only had one boosted season on it, about 3000 miles or so. This summer I hope to get more miles on it. Last summer I spent a fair bit of time working on the car (fuel system mods, TII tranny, new clutch, rear axle bearings...). If it's tuned and maintained properly, and run at moderate boost levels, I expect a turbo'd 6-port would last as long as any TII. Problem is, I suspect many turbo'd 6-ports don't meet all three of those requirements.
I agree with trochoid that a 4-port motor might be a better choice, but I'd suggest just getting a TII motor rather than messing about with 12a irons. The 12a irons have slightly different intake port location, and VERY different mounting hole locations, making the fitment of a TII intake problematic.

I've liked the idea and the simplicity of a weber and n/a rotor forever, but the power available from just 5psi is pretty hard to beat. i have a lot of things to cover before I even think about this route. If I can find some good maps and maybe someone around here to help me with tunning so that my apex seals dont dump out of my tailpipe that would make me like the idea even more!

There are a number of members in the 2nd gen section running turboed NAs. The trick is to keep the boost low and plenty of fuel. They can last as long as any other turbo when tuned well.
