Turbo Timer Installation???
 

I have a TII swapped 1st Gen and need to install a turbo timer.
Does any one here know which wires I need to connect the turbo timer too???

I have an HKS turbo timer with NO instructions..:wallbash:

I hate to say this but I think you will have better luck in the 2nd gen forums :(

or the engine forum the second gen guy sometimes are too worried about if they can do a burn out or not. its not their fault though but take it easy on them.

Man getting an awnser for the FC section is like trying to fix a flat on the side of the road, everyone sees ya and thinks that sucks for them, but no one stops in and helps ya.

I was kind of hopeing that I could find it here since turbo 1st gens have become rather prominent around here..

i know it hooks into the ignition system and the cooling system other than that i have know idea

I used an FC install kit to wire up my greddy turbo timer into the 84.It was pretty much a direct fit.......in retrospect,it was also a total waste of money.

Turbo timers arent really of much use on a water cooled turbo.Long after the engine is tuned off,convection currents in the cooling system will continue to pump water through bearing cartridge,drawing heat away from the turbo.If you have an oil cooled turbo they do serve a function, since oil stops flowing the instant the engine stops.I keep mine hooked up because it does have a handy digital volt meter function that I use to keep tabs on the charging system.

So should I wire it directly or should I get that install kit?
I figured that I could just cut the connector off of the HKS and wire it to the ignition directly but I need to know which wires it connects to on our FB. Also, I am running a 70-1 aftermarket turbo so it is only oil cooled...

70-1? Damn, you went big. Any alarm shop would be able to install that for you if you get in a bind. It's basically a "key stays on" device with a brake overide.

Boost doesn't really come on strong till 4400 RPM. but then HHHOOOOLLLDDDD on cause she screams like a banshee from there.... She made 383 to the wheels with 14 psi of boost. NOW it's a traction issue:lol:

You might actually learn to like the lag.
I know I do,since it lets me drive around all normal-like when I want. Just keep the revs below 4K and the foot off the floor, and its all civillized.

Yea,the timers are really just an ignition interrupter,so its not hard to install.If you dont want to mess with a shop or probing which wires to screw with,just get an FC install kit.Its basically just a couple wires with plugs on each end.......not all that different from an "inline-tee" trailer wiring plug.
