Turbo II engine guys: how do I hook up the throttle??
I searched and couldnt find how to hook up the throttle cable to the TII trottle body.
Forgive me, I dont know the proper terminology for some of these parts. Starting with the throttle cable, it has to be attached to the manifold, the cable holder gets super close to the firewall, plus it doesnt really look like it will work. Im thinking of having the cable holder in front of the TB instead of on the mani, making the cable not have to bend as much. Second, do I just have to put a Nikki, throttle linkage on the TII TB to make it work??? Help me out here. |
You have to use a FC throttle cable. The nikki one will NOT work.
|
damn, how hard is it to install the fc cable?
|
Will a SE cable work?
|
the SE one will not work. The FC one goes right in. Its a direct replacement. It looks just like the 1st gen one only alot shorter. Takes 2 minutes max to install.
|
you should have room on the upper mani to install a cable bracket, did you move the 13b foward?? usually we will drill another hole in the engine crossmember to move the motor foward a inch, this gived plenty of room at the back for the throttle cables etc,

actually the problem is really with the stock 1st gen cable itself. when you mount it there is not enough slack to reach the throttle without pulling it more than half way open.
Again you dont need a bracket, just a throttle cable from a FC. It cost me about 10 bucks from a junkyard. Works PERFECTLY. |
i have the racingbeat, 12a to 13b engine mount
alright, just gotta get a FC cable then |
turbo and non turbo cables are different, you'll probably need a turbo one. it's like 50 times longer.
|
I thik you need the T2 cable, that's what I went with. The only small broblem I had was about an inch of play on the foot pedal. I just rigged a spacer an it worked like a charm.

Thanks guys. .......baby steps:)

here ya go

The Cosmo Throttlebody Lever is on the same side as the FB, thus it is easier.
I am using an FD throttlebody and it is on the Other sde of the intake, so I had to get a TII throttle cable. Much longer and wraps around. I am sure his TII throttlebody is the same. |
So, to make the throttle cable work on the T2 engine you need the T2 throtle cable, right? Is that what weve concluded?

Originally posted by Felix Wankel actually the TII one is like the Cosmo one, but when you don't have the cable looping around like it's supposed to, you can get by with the short one. Looks like a pain to get it to where it has WOT though. I know, I could've used the stock FB throttle cable with the Cosmo Intake. However, the TII and FD throttlebody levers face the opposite way as well, so you need the longer cable to pull it from the other direction. |
