Turbo Holley Intake Q AND Help me pick my next motor...
Hello all. Out of school in April, and decided to finish my car. I have the option between 2 motors. Haven't got a price on the 2nd one yet.
MOTOR A: 1/2 Bridged REW shortblock. Apparently rebuilt, still making 105 PSI on all faces, but does not have a build receipt. Already pulled, comes with pretty much nothing. QUESTION: Would the 87-92 TURBO Holly intake fit this shortblock or are the REW Intake manifold brackets different>? If I were to get this motor, I would probably throw together a blowthrough turbo w/ Holley. As much as I don't want to have to tune it, I think it's super cool in a car this old. MOTOR B: Stock REW longblock. ~60 000 miles Complete top to bottom with turbos. Seems like higher mileage than I'd like, but the car is so clean inside and out that I would feel comfortable eating off the motor. No leaks, doesn't burn oil, and I get to test drive it first. Would probably drop it in more or less as-is, with custom exhaust obviously. Maybe a few bolt-ons whenever I can. How much power can I scavenge from the stock twins without porting? Its not a DD by any stretch, and gets garaged every winter, but I probably can't afford to do it twice... Here's the car it's going in... http://carphotos.cardomain.com/ride_...4001_large.jpg |
Beautiful car!

The TII Holley intake will not bolt to the REW block.

What he ^^^ said, you would need either a Jay-Tech, Pro-Tech, ot Custom intake.
By the way, I would go option B - especially if you get to test drive it first. At least you would "KNOW" that it will run, and not chance it. Also, theres alot, alot, alot... (did I mention alot?) of little things that you need with a swap that will nickel and dime you to death. Go for the longblock. |
+1 for plan B
what kind/model of front end is that? |
Yeah, I'm leaning toward Plan B. It's so clean and low mileage that I don't think I can lose. I test drive the car Friday, and will probably negotiate a price around then. The font end is a home job. the old man gave me a pretty big hand with it
